King's Casino to Host German Championship of Poker Starting Aug. 18

The PokerNews Cup isn't the only exciting tournament coming to King's Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, just five minutes from the German border.

Starting Aug. 18 and running through Aug. 22 will be the German Championship of Poker (GCOP), a collaborative effort by the casino with online sponsor 888poker. It will run as part of a festival called Bavaria Poker Cup that stretches from Aug. 15-22 and has more than �300,000 in guarantees.

The GCOP features an action-packed schedule with eleven tournaments highlighted by a �888 Main Event that will carries a massive �200,000 guarantee and features two starting flights, with 60-minute levels and a 30,000 starting stack at blinds of 50/100.

The premium guarantee on tap, the tournament's great structure, and the fact that the players will be able to fire as many bullets as they want die to the unlimited reentries are all elements that the organizers believe will make this a hugely successful tournament.

The last time the GCOP hit the King's Casino in Rozvadov was back in August 2014, when Slovakia's Marek Fritz topped a field of 204 entrants, who accounted for 31 rebuys, to win �41,502.

Those looking for bigger challenges, then, will have the opportunity to put their poker skills to a test on Sunday, August 21, when the �1,888 King's High Roller Event will kick off right at the heart of Europe's largest poker room.
