Sunday marked the start of the fifth edition of the Garden State Super Series (GSSS) on parytpoker NJ and BorgataPoker.com. The GSSS V takes place from Oct. 9-23 featuring 75 action-packed tournaments with over $1.1 million in combined guaranteed prize pools.
Thus far, "Imperator3" is the biggest winner in the poker festival by outlasting a field of 324 entrants to win the GSSS #2 - $75,000 GTD NLH for $14,033. Notable names on the final table in this event included Eric "alwaysliquid" Vanauken (3rd - $6,900),Jacob "jakep474" Perry (4th - $5,700) and Yong "OWNEDLOLUMAD" Kwon (6th - $4,125).
Usually the WSOP.com NJ/888poker NJ $50,000 Ultimate Warrior produces the biggest winner of the weekend in the Garden State. This weekend it fell just shy with "tooletime13" finishing on top of a 187-entrant field to win the $13,500 top prize. Three well-known players finished on the tail end of the final table in this tournament: Chris "cbinz" Bindshedler (7th - $1,900), Anthony "Flawlessbink" Maio (8th - $1,200) and Anna "JewJon" Antimony (9th - $850).
New Jersey's "WoAtSnJoEs11" was the big winner over on PokerStars NJ, taking down the Sunday Special $50,000 Gtd for $10,225. Also on the final table in this tournament were David "coles93" Coleman (4th - $4,250), Jason "TiltedHard" Lawhun (7th - $1,750) and Joshua "YogaGrandma" Berardi (8th - $1,250).
Big Action Next Weekend!
Be sure to tune into next week's report as not only does the GSSS V head into its second weekend of action with many huge tournaments including the GSSS #36 - $100,000 GTD NLH with a $215 buy-in and the GSSS #37 - $50,000 GTD NLH High Roller Six-Max with a $535 buy-in, but PokerStars NJ will also be hosting its first-ever New Jersey Championship of Online Poker (NJCOOP).
The NJCOOP takes place from Oct. 15-31 and features 43 exciting tournaments with at least $1.2 million in guarantees, making it the biggest tournament series in the Garden State to date. The biggest tournament on the schedule this coming weekend will be the $250 NJCOOP Sunday Special SE which boasts a huge $100,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Players also have their eyes on the two day $500 NL Hold'em NJCOOP Main Event on Oct. 29-30, which features a huge $200,000 prize pool.
