Jens Lakemeier of Vienna took Event #7 of the 2017 Aussie Millions, the 8-Game Mixed Event, for AUD$55,695.

The $2,250 buy in event at the Crown Melbourne boasted 75 entrants and a $168,750 prize pool after it kicked off Jan. 18. Lakemeier, while nowhere near his best live cash of $132,097, has fared pretty well thus far in the Aussie Millions with two cashes.

He finished 26th in the Opening Event to cap his total earnings thus far in the tournament at AUD$62,755. His total live earnings come in around $711,661.

But maybe one of the larger feats for Lakemeier was besting those who finished just behind him, Australias Oliver Gill and Canadas Ari Engel. Engel finished as the Main Event champ last year for AUD$1,600,000 and sits at fifth in the Global Poker Index Ranking.

Not a bad start for Gill, who, on the other hand, had his first cash of Aussie Millions in this 8-Game Mixed event, taking AUD$35,435. His biggest live cash actually came from the Aussie Millions in 2013, when he found himself in fourth place in the AUD$1,100 No Limit Holdem Six Max event.

As the 75 players whittled down to the final table, entrants competed in eight different games, rotating every six hands between the games, unless play was seven-handed, in which case it rotated every seven hands.

The rest of the final table was Australian. Jarrett Bullock has had two cashes at about the same spot, fourth in Event #7 and fifth in Event #2. This Aussie had his best live cash this year with the H.O.R.S.E. event, taking AUD$6,158.

Similarly, Sam Khoueis found close results in both this event and the Opening Event where he took seventh. He seemed to fare better with faster-paced action, taking first in the Shotclock Pot Limit Omaha Six Max in the 2014 Aussie Millions. Even so, his live earnings come in just over $1.1 million.

Sam Higgs and Julian Powell followed, with the former taking his second cash of this years tournament (and with only half a million in live earnings total) and the latter enjoying his first cash of the tournament (having total earnings almost at 357,000).
