WATCH: Top 5 Tom 'durrrr' Dwan Hands

3 min read
Tom Dwan

When you win the largest played pot on television before the age of 25, many would call that a peak of a career. And for Tom "durrrr" Dwan, that was just the beginning, or a steady progression to his now more than $2.6 million in live earnings.

So next time you see Dwan at the table, which from his Hendon Mob profile, hasnt been in a while, maybe keep an eye out so that you can add to his list of majors.

Here, PokerStars took a look at his top five hands.

And as he said in the video in response to never folding, When I play poker, I just try to win as much as I can.

Dwan vs. Bob Safai

On Poker After Dark, Dwan found the river-over bet before it became popular. Heads up with Bob Safai, Dwan has little chance against Safais top pair top kicker. Dwan stays in, calling $12,000 on the turn and then, with the reveal of the river, the opportunities seem to have faded for Dwan. Then Safai checks with over $40K in the pot.

Safai: A?Q?
Dwan: 8?6?

Board: 5?3?Q?10?2?

Then Dwan goes all in with nothing. Safai lets it go with the best hand to the delight of Dwan.

Dwan vs. Eli Elezra

Going against a seasoned pro is not easy, especially when youre bluffing. Back on Poker After Dark, Dwan flops a flush draw, and calls after Eli Elezra bets $16K. The board paired again on the turn, and Elezra isnt having it and ups his bet with his nines. Dwan than raises to $72K, a feisty move that finally gets Elezra to fold.

Elezra: 9?9?
Dwan: 10?4?

Board: 3?Q?Q?3?5?

Dwan vs. Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth has nine-seven and Dwan has jack-ten and the advantage. Both players check the flop and Dwan gets another ten to make trip tens. Dwan bets $27,600 and Hellmuth calls, drawing dead. This time, actually having the hand works out in his favor, moving all in with over $119K. Hellmuth calls. Just like that, Dwan bests his nemesis.

Hellmuth: 9?7?
Dwan: J?10?

Board: 10?Q?7?10?5?

Dwan vs. Patrik Antonius

This hand made history on Poker After Dark. Dwan has kings to Patrik Antoniuss tens. The 10 on the flop hits Antonius, and he bet $27,000 with Dwan making the call. Dwan then hits a king on the turn and goes all in over the top of an Antonius bet, raising it up to $231,350. Antonius calls with all of his chips. The two ran it twice, but Antonius couldnt find what he needed, losing out on a $561,800 pot.

Antonius: 10?10?
Dwan: K?K?

Board: 10?Q?4?K?6?
Ran twice: 8?

Dwan vs. Phil Ivey

Dwan and Phil Ivey both hit straights, but Ivey cant win thanks to Dwan hitting a four on the turn for the higher straight. Ivey goes all in, Dwan calls with the nuts and breaks a record with a $1,108,500 pot, the largest in televised poker history, losing Ivey over half a million in one hand.

Ivey: 2?A?
Dwan: 7?6?

Board: J?3?5?4?J?
