Currently in Canada: Martin Gets His Second Shot at Big Brother Canada

��jimboeheim�� Leads Canadians On the Virtual Felt
It was a quiet week for Canadians on the virtual felt as ��jimboeheim�� came away with the week's top cash on partypoker with a third-place finish in the Heavyweight: The Title Fight for $28,000.
��fishbones11�� and ��t54_is_a_fag�� both final-tabled the Baby Whale on 888poker. In this $320 buy in tournament, the latter had the best finish, placing in fourth for $8,736 while fishbones11 finished in sixth for $4,641.
On PokerStars, two Canadians made the final table of the Sunday Kickoff. ��xLizotte89�� busted in eighth for $1,798.23 while ��WalmartCNXN�� fell one spot short of the victory, taking home $12,311.24.

Mizzi: The Only Canadian Cash at WPT Bay 101
The annual WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star Championship wrapped up this past week. The event, March 6 to March 10, featured a $7,500 buy-in along with a couple added quirks. Well known pros were ��Shooting Stars" with a $2,500 bounty on their heads for any player who knocked them out of the tournament. The end-of-day chip leader for both Day 1a and Day 1b collected a $10,000 bonus.
This tournament featured Canadians Daniel Negreanu, Ema Zajmovic, Matt Salsbeg, Mike Leah, Ari Engel and Sorel Mizzi. Mizzi was the only one waving the Canadian flag that was able to bag chips at the end of either of the Day 1s. He ended up cashing in 49th place for $19,120.
Chino Rheem ended up making the final table and eyed his fourth WPT Main Event title. Rheem is currently tied with Darren Elias, Gus Hansen, Carlos Mortensen and Anthony Zinno for the most WPT wins at three apiece. Rheem would end up falling short of his fourth win, finishing in third place for $521,660.
In the end, it was Sam Panzica and Anthony Spinella getting heads up for the title. Panzica was able to outlast his opponent to have his name etched onto the WPT Champions trophy along with earning $1,373,000. Spinella took home $786,610 for his second-place finish.

Kevin Martin to Enter the Big Brother Canada House Again
Team PokerStars Online member Kevin Martin burst onto the Twitch scene right before entering the Big Brother Canada house for Season 3 of the show. He is now getting a second shot at the $100,000 first prize as Season 5 of the show kicked off on March 15. Martin helped attract a wider audience to his Twitch stream after being on the show in Season 3.

Daniel Dvoress Takes Top Spot in Canadian Player of the Year Race as Greenwood Falls to Fourth
Daniel Dvoress edged out Ari Engel for top spot in the 2017 GPI Canadian Player of the Year Race. Dvoress shot up the rankings with his second-place finish in the $50,000 Super High Roller at the PokerStars Championship Panama this past week.
Engel and Mike Leah also moved up the rankings to second and third while Luc Greenwood dropped from first to fourth.
Engel and Leah remain first and second on the overall GPI top 10 Canadian list. This marks Engel��s 20th-straight week claiming the top honors in Canadian tournament poker.

The third and final stop on the California swing of the WPT has wrapped up this week with 421 total entries in the $3,500 buy in event. After all the chips were won, Canadian Sorel Mizzi finished as the runner-up, taking home $190,105. Engel was the only other Canadian to cash the main event with a 49th-place finish for $5,862. Mizzi ended up busting to Mike Del Vecchio who walked away with the $284,638 first-place prize.
