Global Poker Index: Sergio Aido Surges, Bryn Kenney Still Leads POY
Each week, the Global Poker Index releases a list of the top tournament poker players in the world using a formula that takes into account a player's results over six half-year periods. For a look at the entire list, visit the official GPI website. Here's a look at the rankings as of March 15.

Bryn Kenney remains the frontrunner in the 2017 Global Poker Index Player of the Year race, making it six weeks at the top for him. Others are coming on, however, including Sergio Aido who moved up from No. 5 to No. 2 this week after finishing seventh in the World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Star Main Event won by Samuel Panzica.
Dylan Wilkerson moved up from No. 15 to No. 6 following his win in the World Series of Poker Circuit Los Angeles event at the Bicycle Casino. Park Yu Cheung also moved up a couple of notches to No. 9 after picking up three cashes in the Asia Championship of Poker Platinum Series in Macau.

David Peters remains the overall GPI leader for a fourth-straight week, with the top four all remaining the same since the last update.
Samuel Panzica, meanwhile, catapulted from No. 25 to No. 5 thanks to points gained from his big WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star victory, good for a $1.373 million cash. It's Panzica's first time inside the overall top 10 and highest-career GPI ranking to date. Rainer Kempe also jumped onto this week's list, going from No. 12 to No. 6 after finishing sixth in that same WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star Main Event.

There are 10 new names in this week's GPI top 300, with David "Chino" Rheem the highest-ranked of the group after jumping up from No. 452 to No. 161. Rheem also made a deep run in the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star where he finished third.

Rheem's WPT Bay 101 finish made him the second biggest gainer of the week among players in the top 300, with Alexandru Papazian topping the list after moving all of the way from No. 566 to No. 227. Papazian had deep runs in both the Main Event and High Roller at the recent Western Tournament series in Cyprus to enable his upward move.
