In the Spotlight: Popular Poker Searches Include Dwan, Hall, Ivey
The Hendon Mob database of tournament poker results is a much-consulted site for poker players and fans alike. Among the many rankings available on the site are ongoing lists of most searched players over the last week. Such lists provide quick snapshots of which tournament poker players are currently "in the spotlight" with their profiles being looked at the most.
Here are the most searched players on Hendon Mob over the last seven days as reported by the site this morning, Saturday, April 1:
Position | Player | Last Week |
---|---|---|
1st | Tom Dwan | 5th |
2nd | Cate Hall | 4th |
3rd | Fedor Holz | 2nd |
4th | Daniel Negreanu | 3rd |
5th | Michael Dentale | 1st |
6th | Daniel Colman | 7th |
7th | Doug Polk | 8th |
8th | Phil Ivey | 14th |
9th | Erik Seidel | 12th |
10th | Scott Seiver | 40th |
Last week in this space we covered reasons why the profiles of the top seven players on this list were being searched the most by visitors of Hendon Mob. Cate Hall (2nd) featured on this week's episode of the PokerNews Podcast remains high on the list post-grude match with Michael Dentale (5th). Meanwhile Fedor Holz (2nd), Daniel Colman (6th), and Doug Polk (7th) continue to get a lot of attention.
And Tom Dwan (1st) has moved to the top of the list in the wake of his runner-up finish in the HK$500,000 Super High Roller at the MBP Spring Challenge in Macau.
Moving up to rejoin this list are three very familiar players. Phil Ivey (8th) the subject here of a recent Throwback Thursday is getting looked up again, likely because of this week's news that Ivey is one of the 50 players who have made a deposit to play the 111,111 One Drop High Roller that will take place at the World Series of Poker Europe series in November at the King's Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic.
Erik Seidel (9th) has also moved up into the top 10 searched players currently, as has Scott Seiver (10th) who saw a big increase in look-ups after taking first and a third in the most recent pair of $25,000 ARIA High Roller events.
While the most searched list tends not to change too greatly from week to week, Hendon Mob also maintains a updated list of players with the biggest increase in unique hits over the previous seven days, a.k.a. the "Top Movers." This list is a bit more intriguing to check as new names pop up more frequently in response to recent results and/or newsworthy events.
Here's a look at the "Top Movers" list from today:
Position | Player | Last Week |
---|---|---|
1st | Timur Caglan | +1770% |
2nd | John Kim | +1484% |
3rd | Dmitry Chop | +820% |
4th | Yuval Bronshtein | +592% |
5th | Abdelhadi Kondah | +580% |
6th | Will Berry | +514% |
7th | Enrico Mosca | +378% |
8th | Jeff Gross | +112% |
9th | Salomon Ponte | +93% |
10th | Scott Seiver | +55% |
From this group only Seiver has been mentioned so far, while several of the rest on this list are also being searched thanks to recent tournament results. Just to highlight a few:
- Timur Caglan cashed twice in the WSOP International Circuit Rozvadov series, winning one side event.
- Dmitry Chop won the partypoker Million Sochi Main Event for a handsome $225,000 first prize.
- Will Berry won the WSOP Circuit Tulsa Main Event for $180,806.
- Abdelhadi Kondah has been cashing in Marrakech, including a recent deep run in the High Roller at the Marrakech Poker Open.
