PokerStars Festival Uruguay Kicks Off Sept. 16
The PokerStars Festival is heading to the Conrad Hotel & Casino in Punta del Este, Uruguay for 18 action-packed tournaments from Sept. 16-23.
While this marks the first time the festival has hit Uruguay, PokerStars has visited Uruguay in the past during the defunct Latin America Poker Tour including at this time last year. During last year's similar event, Argentina's Pedro Claus made a three-way deal on the final table to walk away with $90,630 and the trophy.
The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be on hand to cover the two biggest events of the festival, including the PokerStars Festival Uruguay $1,650 Main Event and the PokerStars Festival Uruguay $3,300 High Roller.
The Schedule
The Main Event begins with two opening days on Sept. 18 and 19 with players beginning with 25,000 chips and blinds increasing every 60 minutes for 12 levels. Players eliminated early will have plenty of chances to get back into the action with both opening flights allowing for unlimited re-entries until the end of Level 9. Players that bag chips on Day 1a will not be able to re-enter into Day 1b.
Surviving players from the two opening flights then compete for three more days Sept. 20-22 until a winner is crowned.
The three-day $3,300 High Roller takes place a little bit later on Sept. 21-23. Players will be able to late register and are allowed unlimited re-entries until the end of Level 9, which is the third blind level on Day 2.
The structure is a bit deeper than the Main Event with players starting with double the stack or 50,000 chips and blinds increasing every 60 minutes throughout the tournament.
The casino is hosting a handful of satellites for both of these tournaments where players can qualify into the events at a fraction of the cost.
