PokerStars WCOOP Day 9: Patrick Serda Ships High Roller for $469,191
Day 9 of the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) at PokerStars was one of the biggest days of the festival with another nine champions crowned in four high events and five low events coming to a completion.
Canada's Patrick "prepstyle71" Serda was easily the biggest star of Day 9 after winning the $10,300 NLHE [High Roller] $1.5m Gtd for $468,181, the biggest prize of the day. Serda's claim to fame in the poker world came in December when he finished in second place in the 2016 EPT Prague �10,300 High Roller after agreeing to a deal while he had the lead against William Kassouf, which netted him �719,000 while Kassouf took home �532,500 and the coveted trophy.

The WCOOP High Roller attracted 244 entrants including some of the poker's biggest names with Team PokerStars Pro Liv "Liv Boeree" Boeree, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom, Chris "Moorman1" Moorman and Philipp "philbort" Gruissem all competing.
The field was trimmed down to 32 players to start the second day of the event and was down to a final table after Germany's Ole "wizowizo" Schemion (11th place) and Canada's Ryan "newguy89" McEathron (10th place) were eliminated for $41,638 each. According to the PokerStars Blog, Serda had more than half the chips in play when the final table began and never looked back.
United Kingdom's "LAP1293" was eliminated in ninth place for $51,328 minutes after the final table began after he jammed with ace-four suited and couldn't get there against the pocket queens held by Germany's Paul "_paul�Faul_" H?fer.
Australian poker player playing from Macau Martin "nizmo jiz" Kozlov was the next player eliminated in eighth place for $67,682 after his pocket-sevens was unable to outflip the ace-ten suited held by Poland's "limitless" after a ten appeared on the flop.
Spain's Andres "Educa-p0ker" Artinano, registered on PokerStars from the United Kingdom, then three-bet shoved with ace-jack and was called by Serda with king-seven suited. The board was all blanks until a seven appeared on the river and Artiano exited the tournament in seventh place for $89,248.
Germany��s Jens "Fresh_oO_D" Lakemeier, who won his third COOP title on Day 8 after taking down the WCOOP-23-H: $1,050 NLHE [6-Max] for $97,459, then eliminated Australian poker refugee playing from Mexico "ROFLshove" in sixth place for $117,685 after his ace-eight suited got there against his opponent's pocket tens.
H?fer bowed out in fifth place for $117,685 after his ace-queen failed to hold against the ace-seven held by "limitless".
Lakemeier became the third player eliminated in a row with a hand unable to hold. The German was sent out in fourth place for $204,630 after he got it all in good with ace-ten suited, but was unable to hold against the jack-six suited held by WCOOP-03-H: $1,050 NLHE [Sunday Million SE], $1.5M Gtd winner "KumariOy".
"KumariOy" nailed a set on the flop with pocket fives and then eliminated "limitless" with pocket kings in third place for $269,831 after "limitless" shoved into his opponent on the river.
Serda entered heads-up play with a 2.5:1 chip advantage and asked his opponent if he wanted to make a deal. "KumaraiOy" quickly said, "no ty" and play resumed.
"KumaraiOy" made a quick dent in Serda's stack before his opponent regained momentum. Serda won the prestigious WCOOP event for $469,191 after he nailed a set with a pair of fours against his opponents two pair. Meanwhile, "KumuariOy" added to his spectacular WCOOP, banking the runner-up prize of $355,809.

- Canada's Nick "PureCash25" Rampone won his fifth COOP title after shipping the WCOOP-27-H: $530 NLHE [Sunday Million SE] for $256,502. Rampone has previously won three SCOOP events and one TCOOP event.
- Brazil's Andre "AndreBusato" Busato DeOliveira won the WCOOP-23-L:$55 NLHE [6-Max], $200K Gtd for $39,867 as part of a five-way deal.
- Fellow Brazlian Victor "VibizSbrissa" Sbrissa shipped the WCOOP-22-L:$27 NLHE [Win the Button], 200K Gtd for $34,935 as part of a heads-up deal.
- Canada's Mike "goleafsgoeh" Leah has managed fifth-place finishes in 2017 WCOOP events on four different occasions and leads the way on the the 2017 WCOOP Player of the Series Leaderboard with 325 points. The leaderboard winner at the end of the series will receive a trophy, $20,000 in cash and a PokerStars Caribbean Adventure package.
