Aleksandrovs Bags Top Stack on Day 1b of MPN Poker Tour Tallinn Main Event
Day 1b of the MPN Poker Tour 2017 Tallinn Main Event easily surpassed the tournament��s �150,000 guarantee on its own. Yesterday��s 416 entries brought the total number so far up to 522, leaving the prize pool in excess of �200,000 with registration still open until start of play today at 13:00.
The �550 MPNPT Main Event runs at the Olympic Park Casino, Tallinn, October 19-22, with a full complement of side events. The international field brings together returning champions like last year��s Tallinn winner Ranno Sootla, MPNPT stalwarts Julie Whitworth, Johan Palokangas, Phill Huxley, Monika ��HeyMonia�� Zukowicz and Dara O��Kearney in contention across the baize alongside local and globe-trotting amateurs, pros and a host of online qualifiers.
With all Day 1 chips bagged, it��s still Day 1a��s top stack holder Terje Torstensen, with 357,200 chips, in the overall chip lead. Putting in a good performance on Friday, however, were Maksims Aleksandrovs (249,800, pictured), Thanh Doan (212,700) and Sami Turpeenoja (199,900). All 156 returning players will benefit from extended one-hour blind levels as they play down to the money bubble and beyond.
Side events began Friday night with a �55 Turbo Rebuy tournament, which attracted 81 entrants and awarded just shy of �11,300 in prize money, and sides will continue today with the �220 MPNPT Omaha Cup (18:00) and Day 1 of the �110 MPNPT Estonia Poker Cup (19:00).
