Martin Jacobson has linked up with 888poker to become the latest member of their Ambassador team, he announced on Twitter yesterday.

Jacobson and 888poker have teamed up in the past, most recently and visibly at World Series of Poker Europe, where Jacobson competed with an 888 patch adorning his shirt.

It's the latest step in the company's "Taking Back the Game" campaign, 888poker's efforts to stay on the cutting edge of the ever-more-competitive online poker arms race.

"888poker and I have a mutual interest to make poker great again in taking back the game, Jacobson said in a press release. "888poker's goal is to host prestigious events with huge guarantees affordable to anyone by providing a wide range of buy-ins along with satellites to all tournaments."

Jacobson, of course, is best-known for his thrilling victory at the 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event final table, wherein he worked his way from short stack to champion. However, he was already an accomplished pro before that with about $4 million in cashes.

The Swedish pro has also been lauded in the past for his charitable efforts, something 888poker noted in their presser.

"An extremely positive figure in the poker world, Jacobson represents the best qualities in the industry: passion, integrity, excellence and a desire to give back," an 888poker rep wrote. "We're super-excited to be working with one of the best minds in poker, as we embark upon our shared goal of providing players all over the world with the best possible poker experience."

The 888poker Ambassador Team already includes the likes of Dominik Nitsche, Parker Talbot, Chris Moorman, Sofia Lovgren and WSOPE signee Vivian Saliba.

"2018 is going to be one hell of a poker year!" Jacobson said on Twitter.

Celebration Freeroll

To celebrate the addition of the poker world champ to their Ambassador team, 888poker is giving back to the players with a $5,000 freeroll, scheduled for tonight, Dec. 27.

The $5,000 Martin Jacobson Welcome Tournament starts at 9:30 p.m. GMT and features an $88 bounty on Jacobson for the lucky player who can manage to take his last chip. Head on over to 888poker to take advantage of this opportunity open to all 888poker players who have deposited on the site.
