While Viktor “Isildur1” Blom was busy hero-calling his way to glory in the 2018 partypoker MILLIONS Germany Main Event, another of poker’s legitimate superstars was working his way to a €300,000 prize in the €10,300 High Roller event.

888poker ambassador Dominik Nitsche was one of 120 entries (48 re-entries) in the €10,300 buy-in partypoker MILLIONS Germany High Roller and helped to create a €1,140,000 prize pool, which beat the €1 million guarantee.

Fifteen places were paid with a min-cash being worth €25,000, a final table appearance increasing the payout to €40,000, and the champion scooping €300,000.

Poland’s Kacper Pyzara was the first player to collect some prize money, and he was followed to the sidelines by some of poker’s biggest names. Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier busted in 14th place for €25,000 while Mustapha Kanit collected €30,000 for his 10th place finish. High Roller specialist Steve O’Dwyer burst the official final table bubble after finishing in ninth-place for €30,000.

The final table was a star-studded affair, which made Nitsche’s victory all the sweeter. Ole Schemion (seventh for €50,000), Daniel Cates (fifth for €80,000), and Koray Aldemir (fourth for €100,000) were some of the names locking horns with Nitsche on his way to victory.

Nitsche: "Honestly, I can say that I’ve played tougher tournaments in the past."

“The Flying Dutchman” Marcel Luske, the partypoker ambassador, was Nitsche’s heads-up opponent and despite putting up a good fight, Luske could not finish the job and the win was Nitsche’s; Luske banked €180,000 for his runner-up finish.

We spoke to Nitsche in Nottingham, where he appeared in the field the next day. "It feels pretty good actually. I was joking with my friends that I run really good in Rozvadov because people were making jokes about how much would it take for them to live there for a year. Some people were saying five or ten million, and personally, I don’t know!. The way it’s been going in Rozvadov, I might have to move there eventually. I actually don’t mind Rozvadov as much as other people do. The dealers are good, the tournaments offer great value. This one had lots of recreational players. I think ten days was a bit long to be there, but I don’t mind going there too much. For me, it just feels nice to play poker whether I’m at Dusk Till Dawn, Rozvadov, or Vegas."

Nitsche continued on his time in Rozvadov: "The field was good. Lots of recreational players that Leon told to play; there was The Wolf, who is a legend of the game, and those guys were in for five or six bullets each. There were some good spots in there; obviously, a lot of tough players in there but the really tough players had left; the German guys had enough of Rozvadov and went home, so I said to myself that I couldn’t miss this."

Nitsche: "We heard about the private jet leaving the next day, and they had seats open."

There weren't just amateurs left in Rozvadov, though: "There were some tough players, my friend Koray Aldemir made the final table as well, and obviously Marcel heads-up and the partypoker guys. Never too easy. But honestly, I can say that I’ve played tougher tournaments in the past."

Nitsche, together with Manig Loeser, had plans to play online on Sunday but those plans got canceled as soon as they made a deep run in the €10,000 event. Instead, they got a lift to another tournament: "We heard about the private jet leaving the next day, and they had seats open. I was like sweet! It gets me closer to home, I get to play a £5k on the way home which is sweet, and I only missed three levels. It was very nice because otherwise, I wasn’t going to make it here. There were no direct flights here, so I basically said I wasn’t going to bother but thanks to the private jet, I had no excuse not to go!

Nitsche did enter the £5,000 Super High Roller in Nottingham, but didn't survive the first day. Read all about it right here.

Mustafa Biz Takes Down the partypoker MILLIONS Finale for €175,000

The final event of the partypoker MILLIONS Germany festival was the aptly named Finale, a €1,100 buy-in event with a €1 million guaranteed prize pool. Six-hundred and sixty-eight unique players made 203 re-entries between them, and the prize pool was divided up among the top 112 finishers.

Some of those cashing in the Finale included Dermot Blain (104th for €3,000), Jan Bendik (90th for €3,500), Antoni Romanello (78th for €3,500), partypoker ambassador Anatoly Filatov (38th for €4,750), John Duthie (31st for €5,500), and Vlad Darie (14th for €7,750).

Everyone at the final table was guaranteed at least €13,000 for their efforts, but with €175,000 awaiting the champion, nobody wanted to take the smaller amount. The eventual champion was Turkey’s Mustafa Biz who defeated Georgios Vrakas heads-up.
