Super High Roller Bowl

The 2018 Super High Roller Bowl, running May 27 - 30 in the ARIA Las Vegas and live reported on PokerNews, had 61 players sign up by making the $30,000 non-refundable deposit for the $300,000 event.

With just 48 seats available for the Super High Roller Bowl, a lottery system was in place to determine the first 30 players allowed to buy-in.

Last night, live streamed on PokerGO, Ali Nejad hosted the lottery along with Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, ARIAs Head of Poker Operations Sean McCormack, ARIA's Tournament Director Paul Campbell.

Phil Hellmuth and Daniel Negreanu both saw their names come out of the tombola. Former SHRB champions Brian Rast (2015, $7,525,000) and Christoph Vogelsang (2017, $6,000,000) are also in again, making 2016 winner Rainer Kempe ($5,000,000) the only former champion not to get in directly.

A total of 11 players are in for the first time:

  • Adrian Mateos
  • Andeas Eiler
  • Arne Ruge
  • John Andress
  • Kahle Burns
  • Keith Tilston
  • Markus Drnegger
  • Nick Petrangelo
  • Nikita Bodyakovskiy
  • Sergio Aido

According to PokerCentral's release, Jan-Eric Schwippert is now the only player to get snubbed twice, having indicated he wanted to play both last year and this year but getting unlucky both times.

Some big names did not see their names drawn, including Fedor Holz, Antonio Esfandiari, Tony G, and Joe McKeehen. A total of 31 players deposited the $30,000 in time but did not see their names drawn in last night's lottery. These players get their $30,000 deposit back but still have a shot at entering the event as there are still two options to get in:

  1. There are 16 seats to be assigned by ARIA at their discretion.
  2. There are 2 seats to be won in a $10,000 satellite to be held on May 26th.
