Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Returns to Montenegro in May
From May 12-18, the third season of the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series will kick off with the 2018 Triton Super High Roller Series Montenegro. The series founded by Malaysian businessman, philanthropist, and poker enthusiast Richard Yong once again forays out of Asia and returns to the stunning Maestral Resort & Casino in Budva, Montenegro for scintillating high-stakes poker action.
Situated on the Adriatic Coast, the luxurious Maestral Resort & Casino delivers the perfect setting for seven days of octane-fueled poker action, with four high stakes events featured on the schedule.
The calendar features two regular No-Limit Hold'em events with a buy-in of HKD 250,000 and HKD 1,000,000, respectively.
The HKD 240,000+10,000 6-Max Event (~$31,876) kicks off at 1 p.m. local time on May 13. The two-day event gives players 50,000 in starting chips with levels of 40 minutes and allows multiple reentries for those that run out of chips during the first 11 levels.
After the 250K 6-Max has been finished, the players move on to the HKD 960,000+40,000 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event (~$127,505). The Main Event starts on May 15 and is a three-day event featuring 60 minute blind levels. Players start with 250,000 in chips, and multiple reentries are allowed up until the start of level 12, two hours into Day 2.
Triton Brings Short Deck Poker to Europe
To make things even spicier, Triton has added two high stakes Short Deck Ante-Only events to the schedule. Short Deck poker features a smaller 36-card deck with the 2s, 3s, 4s, and 5s removed, with aces doubling as a five instead. The game has taken the Asian poker scene by storm and will captivate players and viewers alike with its frenetic pace and gambling action.
The two-day HKD 240,000+10,000 Short Deck Ante-Only event starts on May 12 and gives players 100,000 in chips, plus two extra 100k bullets to be added at any time. On May 17, action kicks into high gear with the HKD 960,000+40,000 Short Deck Ante-Only 1M Event, which starts at 4 p.m. local time. Again, players will receive two extra 100k bullets on top of their 100,000 starting stack, adding an extra element of depth to the game whether to sit in short or deep. The final day of this event will play out on May 18 at 1 p.m.
Short Deck poker is an exciting, high-variance game that features more coin flip situations than traditional No-Limit Hold'em, creating a challenging dynamic for the pros and businessmen alike. In Short deck poker, more starting hands are playable and rank closer in value before the flop. With just 36 cards instead of 52, straights become more common, while flushes are a rare sight. In order to adjust for this, the hand ranking chart has been updated and a flush beats a full house. There's are no blinds; instead, the game is played ante-only, with the button posting a double ante.
