Day 1 of the 2018 Cash Game Festival London at Aspers Casino was a huge success with plenty of action at the tables and in the lounge.

There were around a dozen tables running for hours on end in no-limit hold'em and pot-limit Omaha with a Sviten Special set to open after 1 a.m.

The festival began in the late afternoon with a welcome drinks ceremony as preparation for both tons of action at the felt and for the big World Cup match between the home country of England and Croatia. However, many of the players couldn't wait for the official festival to begin with seven full tables already running before the ceremony.

Shortly after the welcome drinks ceremony began, the first televised feature table commenced with players battling it out in 2/2 no-limit hold'em co-hosted by PokerNews Editor Jason Glatzer alongside British young guns Henry Kilbane, and George Sandford.

Zlatan Cizmic was one of the players on the waiting list for the early feature table. However, this didn't deter him as he eventually made it onto the table and booked a profit of 470 or 235 big blinds.

There was a bit of a break between the early and late feature tables so players could enjoy the World Cup. Although there were tons of side tables running, there were more than 500 players in the lounge outside of the poker room enjoying drinks and watching football.

After the match was over, the feature table began with stakes at 2/2 pot-limit Omaha. The game played much bigger than the stakes with tons of action-players featured at the table.

Cash Game Festival Co-Founder Martin "Franke" von Zweigbergk, who won a Cash Game Festival trophy in Bratislava in April for winning the most big blinds at any of the 10 feature tables, put his name on the top of the leaderboard early on in this festival by booking a tidy profit of 1,500 or 750 big blinds.

Von Zweigbergk may need to improve on this total if he wants to become a two-time trophy winner as many other big action games are planned throughout the festival.

Players with the hospitality package will be enjoying a sporting activity tomorrow, although they may choose to keep playing at the tables as well.

Many other players will likely be enjoying the delights of British capital considering the perfect weather or instead hopping into the action early in the day. As will be the case every day during the festival, live streaming is scheduled at lower stakes at 6:00 p.m. BST and higher stakes at 9:00 p.m. BST. You can watch all the action on the Cash Game Festival Twitch channel or here at PokerNews.

Stay tuned at PokerNews for the next four days as we report some of the hottest action at the Cash Game Festival London.
