Chris Kittos Wins the Star Sydney Championships A$440 Masters Event (A$13,924)
Chris Kittos finished on top of a field of 116 entrants to win the Sydney Championships Event #9: A$440 No Limit Hold'em - Masters 50+ event for A$13,924 ($10,307).
The Masters Tournament is always a fun edition of any poker series all around the world. The theory being that these events give players of a certain age a chance to compete without all of the pesky professional young guns being around to spoil it for them.
The only problem with this is that the results of players in these age categories are just as impressive as those that you may expect to find in open company. That was definitely the case tonight where the name "Masters Event" seemed more to describe that they were masters of poker than anything else.
The final table was stacked with talent, players like Errolyn Strang with over $400,000 in tournament earnings, Jim Psaros who took down the 2015 ANZPT Sydney Championships Main Event, and Marc Liddell who has over $200,000 in tournament earnings and an impressive final table appearance at the 2016 Sydney Championships.
However, it was Chris Kiittos who outmaneuvered all of these players to take down the biggest title of his poker career.
Kiittos was in control for much of the final table, and it seemed like either himself of Psaros were dictating the momentum of the table. For this reason, it was fitting that these two finished heads up, only to see Psaros get eliminated when his pocket queens lost to a flopped set of tens by Kiittos, much to the chagrin of the extremely vocal rail support the Psaros had for the entire final table.
Kiittos showed excellent composure and tenacity through the entire tournament to make sure he made the right moves at the right time.
