Mark Dube Captures Pair of SHRPO Titles in Two Days
The 2018 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open (SHRPO) wont reach its Big Four until this weekend, but theres already one big story coming out of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino as local poker pro Mark Dube has won two tournaments in as many days.
His first win came on Tuesday night when he bested a 231-entry field to win Event #11: $570 Six-Max NLH (Single Re-Entry) for $25,120. It marked Dubes first SHRPO title at his home casino, though he had come close in the past finishing runner-up to Brian Altman in the 2015 WPT Lucky Hearts.
According to updates from the event, Dube began the final table in the middle of the pack but doubled through Jason Young to get a big stack. Young then eliminated Michael The Grinder Mizrachi in fifth place and that led to a four-handed match that last two hours.
Eventually, Dube busted Young and then Dewey Raines took care of Brock Wilson to get it to heads-up play. In the final hand of the tournament, Wilson got it in with nine-seven suited but was dominated by the ten-seven of Dube. The board ran out clean and Dube claimed the title.
I ran really well, especially early on and throughout the tournament, I hit a ton of sets, he said after the win. It went better than I could have asked for. Most hands went my way.

Another Day, Another Win
The next day, Dube jumped into Event #16: $360 Pot-Limit Omaha Six-Max, a tournament that drew 114 runners and created a $34,200 prize pool. Also at the final table were Raines and Manuel Suarez, who were both at the Event #11 final table the night before.
Dube began as the short stack with just 10 big blinds, but things went his way.
I think I only had about 50,000 at that point, he explained. And I got aces in versus kings and flopped quad aces. So that was good. Obviously, if I lose that, Im out.
Dube wound up in heads-up play against Raines, and in the final hand of the tournament the duo got it in preflop and the latter flopped two pair. However, Dube, who had aces down, counterfeited him when the river paired the board.
It feels good. Its definitely unexpected," Dube said in his second winner's interview. "Pretty much everythings been going my way again for the second night in a row.
The two wins come less than two months after Dube finished runner-up in Planet Hollywoods 2018 Goliath Phamous Poker Series for $111,681.
