Sunday Briefing: Anatoly Filatov��s Heater Continues

Russia��s Anatoly ��NL_Profit�� Filatov recently took down the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia Main Event for a lifetime best score of $944,230. The partypoker-sponsored pro continued his good run of form into the online arena on Sept 3, winning almost $200,000 as the partypoker POWERFEST and PokerStars WCOOP kicked off.

PokerStars Sunday High Roller

A field of 61 entries descended on the PokerStars virtual felt for the weekly $2,100 Sunday High Roller, a tournament that attracts some of the best poker players in the business.

Only eight of those 61 entrants received prize money for their efforts, meaning Sebastian ��p0cket00�� Sikorski, the ninth-place finisher, was the unfortunate soul to burst the money bubble.

Russian pro ��Black88�� was the first player to receive prize money. Their eighth-place finish netted them $4,473. Black88 was followed to the rail by Hungarian star Andras ��probirs�� Nemeth and Thomas ��WushuTM�� Muehloecker, the latter being the last player to walk away with a four-figure score; everyone else banked at least $10,330.

��Cigarroata�� of Brazil was the fifth-place finisher and they were joined on the payout table by Swedish sensation Simon ��C. Darwin2�� Mattsson. With the elimination of ��T-Macha�� leaving only ��bencb789�� and Filatov to lock horns heads-up.

It was a battle that Filatov went on to win, meaning he turned his $2,100 investment into $37,908, leaving bencb789 to collect the $23,856 runner-up prize.

While Filatov was on his way to victory in the Sunday High Roller, he was also bulldozing his way to the final table of the partypoker POWERFEST #003-SHR: $1M Gtd Championship Event.

Some 181 players turned out for the $5,200 buy-in championship event, leaving partypker nursing a $95,000 overlay, but the top 24 players did not care as it boosted their prize.

Several Team partypoker players made it into the money. Joao ��joaosimaobh�� Simao finished in 22nd for $13,300, the same amount Patrick ��Patrick_Leonard�� Leonard banked for his 18th place finish. Roberto ��WelshWizard�� Romanello won $17,200 for his 16th place finish, although the best was yet to come for the partypoker stable.

Bertrand ��ElkY�� Grospellier navigated his way to the final table before falling in fourth-place for a massive $83,000 score, which kicked his POWERFEST series off in style. The player known as ��Algorhtym�� busted in third-place for $116,000 and that left Filatov and ��WWWpartyCOM�� to play in what was essentially a $62,300 heads-up sit & go!

Filatov couldn��t quite get the job done in this event and had to make do with the $159,000 runner-up prize. WWWpartyCOM was crowned the tournament��s champion, an accolade that came with a $221,300 prize. The talented pro enjoys POWERFEST as they won more than $870,000 in the last edition when they were crowned the $25,500 Super High Roller champion.

PokerStars WCOOP-06-H: $530 NLHE 8-Max Turbo

The majority of the PokerStars World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP) events take place across two days, but the sixth event, thanks to its turbo blind structure, was settled in a single day.

Event-06-H was a $530 buy-in 8-max turbo with a $400,000 guaranteed prize pool that saw 876 player compete to become a WCOOP champion. Some 103 places were paid at least $1,190, but everyone at the eight-handed final table was guaranteed no less than $8,408.

Sweden��s Andreas ��mrAndreeew�� Berggren was the player to collect that $8,408 when they fell in eighth-place. Canada��s Shawn "buck21" Buchanan, Romania��s Farcasanu ��alexxt7�� Alexandru, Netherlands�� ��Zagazaur��, and ��xKoSSSx�� each fell by the wayside and banked between $11,463 and $29,048.

Unsurprisingly, the final three players decided to strike a deal for the remaining prize pool as the blinds were massive and there was $167,204 still to play for.

��TimThompson�� of Canada busted in third-place for $54,257 with runner-up ��FloweerBoy�� walking away with $51,349. The winner, and recipient of a cool $61,597, was Mexico-based pro ��TheDegenFund��

partypoker POWERFEST #005-HR: $1M Gtd Championship Event PKO

��SirStanleyRoyce�� got their hands on $178,519 plus a custom trophy after they came out on top of the partypoker POWERFEST #005-HR: $1M Gtd Championship Event PKO.

There was an overlay of more than $106,000 and SirStanleyRoyce took full advantage. PKO events reward aggressive players and there was nobody more aggressive than the eventual champion as he or she sent 18 opponents to the rail, which meant they received a bounty payment worth $83,344, more than the second-place prize!

Fourth-place ��rudiga1�� was another player who took on the role of executioner, busting 14 opponents before they crashed out themselves, meaning they walked away with $13,682 worth of bounties in addition to their $30,490 fourth-place prize money.

It was a super result for SirStanleyRoyce who is now set up to have a big POWERFEST.

888poker $100,000 Sunday Mega Deep

Austria��s ��Pik00rs�� turned $215 into $19,500 by outlasting 432 opponents in the $100,000 Sunday Mega Deep at 888poker. Pik00rs locked horns with Romania��s ��LevellingMode�� in a heads-up battle for the title, emerged victorious and the Romanian had to make do with the $14,500 consolation prize.

One other player, ��Mr.McMark777�� banked a five-figure score, namely $11,000 for finishing third, with everyone at the final table guaranteeing themselves at least $2,500 for their last eight appearance.

888poker $50,000 Sunday Challenge

A field of 344 players left a near $16,000 overlay in the $50,000 Sunday Challenge, not that Austria��s ��Palmenwedler�� minded because they triumphed in this tournament and turned $109 into a cool $10,225.

Thirty-six places were paid, with each of the eight final table members netting at least $1,250 for their efforts. Only one player, however, turned their initial investment into a five-figure score and that was the tournament��s champion.

"Palmenwedler" defeated the United Kingdom��s ��hausis1�� heads-up to get their hands on the biggest prize, resigning the runner-up to a still welcomed $7,500 bankroll boost.
