The 2019 Lucky Hearts Poker Open (LHPO) wrapped up at the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood on Tuesday night. The 13-day festival, which was comprised of 25 events, ended with the keystone $1,100 buy-in WPTDeepStacks Hollywood Main Event.

That tournament attracted 1,634 entries C the second largest WPTDeepStacks in history C and surpassed its $1 million guarantee by creating a $1,584,980 prize pool. After six days of play, 37-year-old Jason Young, a 2008 World Series of Poker bracelet winner, came out on top to win a $263,205 first-place prize.

"It's been a long journey to get back here," Young told officials after his win. "There's been a lot of stuff that's gone on in my life over the last five to six years, that I didn't think I'd ever be back in a position like this. I'm rarely speechless, and I don't even know how to process my thoughts just quite yet about everything.

"I never went away. I opened a restaurant and had my daughter who I'm raising all by myself. I just haven't had the opportunities to play like I once did, but this obviously has me wanting to come back and put in more volume like I was. It's been like eight years since I've really been playing and I'm looking forward to playing in more tournaments like this."

Final Table Action

On Tuesday, the final nine players returned to action with Young holding 30 percent of the chips in play. He notched his first knockout with seven players remaining when Quinn Bruno three-bet all in holding Big Slick and Young, the original raiser, called with pocket jacks. The fishhooks held and Quinn was sent packing for $43,930.

According to updates from the event, Young then dispatched Pedro Aldave in sixth place C the result of getting lucky with ace-queen against ace-king all in preflop C and then Leif Force knocked out the next two players C Dave Inselberg (5th - $66,760) and Kevin Chan (4th - $89,000).

With three players remaining, Paul James Hizer three-bet all in holding the K?8? and Young called with the A?Q?. The board ran out Q?9?3?6?10? and Youngs pair of queens sent Hizer to the rail in third place for $119,820.

Young took a more than 2-1 chip lead into heads-up play against Force, but it proved to be a back-and-forth affair. Force doubled into the lead, and then Young doubled back. In what would be the final hand of the tournament, which took place in Level 36 (200K/400K/400K), Force raised to 1 million and Young called to see a 9?4?2? flop.

Young check-called 1.2 million and then checked the K? turn. Force bet 2.2 million, Young woke up with a check-raise to 7 million, and Force called. When the 8? completed the board on the river, Young shoved and Force called off his last 7 million with the 10?10?. Unfortunately for him, it was no good as Young had the K?J? for a pair of kings.

Heres a look at Youngs post-victory interview with the WPTDeepStacks.
