US Online Sunday Briefing: "Funkychicken" Wins Big
"Funkychicken" notched the biggest cash on Sunday at American-regulated online poker networks after shipping the WSOP.com $100,000 GTD Sunday for $27,507.
Meanwhile, the Winter Series kicked off its 15-event schedule on Sunday at PokerStars NJ with three big tournaments. Michael "mmenz08816" Menzer scored the biggest on Sunday in the festival after he won the Winter Series 2: $200 NL Hold'em [Sunday Special SE], $40,000 Gtd for $9,814.

After more than eight hours of play, Daniel "juice" Buzgon won the event for $5,590 after defeating Norman "Abnormality" Michalek in heads-up play. Michalek walked away with $3,440 for his runner-up effort.

The WSOP.com $100,000 GTD Sunday once again boasted the largest prize pool on Sunday at American-regulated online poker rooms. The tournament attracted 229 entrants and 117 rebuys to create the same $103,800 prize pool that the tournament featured last week. A total of 35 players secured at least a min-cash worth $727.
After more than 8 1/2 hours of play, "Funkychicken" opened the new year in a big way by shipping the tournament for $26,988. Bryson "CRISPR" Gonzalez notched the tournament's other five-figure prize with a second-place finish worth $16,089.
Meanwhile two well-known online grinders were also at the final table with New Jersey's Justin "PocketProfits" Wong taking sixth place for $4,982 and Nevada's Jed "jchak" Hoffman finishing one spot behind in seventh place for $3,737.
