Most would say poker in the U.K. wouldnt be what it is today without one of its greatest characters, Dave Devilfish Ulliott. Recently, partypoker LIVE posted a full-length documentary depicting the life of Devilfish, who passed away in 2015.

The film, produced and directed by Marc Reeks and sponsored by partypoker LIVE and Dusk Till Dawn, contains commentary from a number of individuals who knew Ulliott well, including Rob Yong, Warren Lush, Barny Boatman, John Duthie, Padraig Parkinson, Simon Trumper, Marcel Luske and a number of relatives. Its divided into four parts as follows:

  • Part 1 C The April Fool
  • Part 2 C A Class of His Own
  • Part 3 C Made in Hull
  • Part 4 C The Bad Beat

One of the original TV characters of poker, Ulliotts brash and crass nature attracted plenty of people to the game, and contributed to his success on the felt. Watch clips of Devilfish needling Phil Hellmuth and closing out a $10K WPT event against the great Phil Ivey. The 1997 WSOP bracelet winner was well respected among his peers for his poker and people-reading skills that led to an illustrious poker career with more than $6.2 million in live tournament earnings.

Always good for a laugh and drawn to the spotlight, the father of eight had humble beginnings in Kingston upon Hull, United Kingdom, where he grew up hustling a living from a young age. Poker was a natural fit for Ulliott, who helped to shape and grow the game where hell be remembered as a poker legend for years to come. His icon is cemented in the Poker Hall of Fame, as he was inducted posthumously in 2017 alongside Ivey.
