Garrett Adelstein Folds Second Nuts in Big Live at the Bike Pot

3 min read

Garrett Adelstein made an amazing fold on Friday evening during the broadcast of the Live at the Bike at the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, California over the weekend, in a heads up pot against Andy Tsai.

The hand was clipped by Twitch user pocketshades and shared on Reddit in a thread title 'One of the sickest High Stakes folds ever' by u/NeverSlowplay.

Adelstein, known as Gman, is well-known as a high stakes cash game player and was once a coach at Phil Galfond's poker training academy Run It Once. Survivor fans might also remember Adelstein as he was a participant in the Survivor: Cagayan television series in 2013. Andy Tsai is a frequent player at Live at the Bike and well-known in the west coast poker scene.

Adelstein Makes a Big Fold Against Tsai

The players were battling it out in $50/$50/$100 no-limit hold'em game. The hand began with Andy Tsai opening to $300 from the hijack with Q?10? and Adelstein defending his big blind with 10?7?.

The 8?2?9? flop gave Adelstein an open-ended straight draw and Tsai two overcards, a gutshot straight draw, and a backdoor flush draw. Adelstein checked before he called a bet of $300 from Tsai.

The J? came on the turn giving both players a straight with Tsai holding the nut straight and Adelstein with the second nuts. Garrett checked, and the action got big fast from there. Tsai bet $475 before Adelstein raised to $2,500. Tsai three-bet to $7,875 and Adelstein called.

A meaningless 5? completed the board on the river. Adelstein checked out of position for a third-time post-flop before Tsai fired out a nearly pot-sized bet of $14,500. Many players would snap call in this situation, but Adelstein took his time to think over the situation contemplating his next action in the $31.550 pot.

"This is disappointing," said Adelstein. "This is a disappointing situation we have here.

"What do I want to do?" Adelstein asked himself out loud twice before adding, "Actually, I am thinking about putting no more money in. It's a crazy, crazy thing to do."

Adelstein then shared that he hasn't verbalized his thoughts in a long time, which led to some friendly banter between some of the other players at the table.

"I think I am just going to put no more money in," Adelstein said to the table. "This hand is so incredibly, outrageously, motherfucking strong!"

The floor informed Adelstein he had only ten seconds remaining to act. "Yeah, I'll fold it, sure," said Adelstein with a smile and a shoulder shrug.

Poker fans weren't the only ones amazed by the big laydown as the Live at the Bike Commentator Wayne Chiang was almost left speechless.

"Holy cow!" said Chiang before the stream went to the next hand.

In a clip showing two other hands uploaded to Live a the Bike!'s YouTube channel before the weekend, Adelstein wasn't as on point against Nick Vertucci.
