PokerStars Bounty Builder Series Returns with Halloween-Themed Promotions

After a successful Bounty Builder Series last October, PokerStars is bringing back the bounty-focused festival, adding in some seasonal spirit with Halloween-themed promotions. The two-week series begins Sunday, Oct. 13 and will feature 180 progressive bounty tournaments, guaranteeing a total of $25 million in prize pools.

Last year's October Bounty Builder series offered $20 million in guarantees, which was surpassed by nearly 50% with $29,474,285 paid out across 140 events.

The highlight of the festival is the $530 buy-in Main Event on Sunday, Oct. 27. Like last year's BBS Main Event, it is a two-day tournament with at least $2 million up for grabs. The event will play eight-handed and a maximum of three reentries are allowed. In the 2018 series, a young German named Julius, playing online as "121323243435454" won the event for $306,000 �� all while streaming on Twitch.

Bounty Builder Series Details

Buy-ins range from $1.10 on up to a $10,300 high roller, with 12 progressive bounty events every day starting between 10 a.m. ET (3 p.m. UK) and 5:30 p.m. (12:30 a.m. UK).

The series offers mostly no-limit hold'em events, with some other variants like pot-limit Omaha sprinkled in. All the tournaments feature the increasingly popular progressive knockout format where bounties on each person increase as they send more players to the rail.

Each player begins the tournament with a bounty on their head, but when you knock someone out, part of your victim's bounty goes to your pocket and the other part (usually 50/50) gets added to your own bounty �� hence the progressive designation.

A total of 47 of the events are sped up in structure, with 43 turbos and 4 hyper-turbos, for those looking to grab a title in a hurry. In addition to traditional PKO events, there will also be other varieties including "Win the Button" and "Progressive Total KO" events. In the former, whoever wins the hand also wins the button and the advantage of position that comes along with it; in the latter, the entire buy-in (minus the rake) goes toward the bounty prize pool.

Promotions

The second annual BBS comes with an array of Halloween-themed promotions, including a $5,000 Halloween KO Leaderboard, "Trick or Treat" tournaments on Wednesdays and Fridays with BBS tickets added, Midnight Challenges and three Halloween Freerolls with $10,000 in prizes available in each.

The five players who accrue the most knockouts will get a piece of the $5,000 leaderboard, while other top bounty-hunters will get seats into the $10,000 freerolls which will run on Halloween Oct. 31. In last year's edition, "Bananero17" logged 392 KOs to earn the top assassin spot, winning him leaderboard cash as well as one of two $30,000 Platinum Passes that were handed out during the series. Thus far, it appears no Platinum Passes are up for grabs this time around.

Players can earn tickets to the $10,000 Halloween Freerolls by felting their opponents, as follows:

In select tournaments on "Trick or Treat" Wednesdays and Fridays, players may claim "tricks" in the form of $1.10 and $5.50 BBS tournament tickets, or "treats" worth up to $22 BBS tickets.

Special 24- and 18-player Super-KO sit-n-gos called "Midnight Challenges" will run after the Bounty Builder events each day of the series. Knock out at least five players in any of these and gain entry into an All-in Shootout awarding $2,000 in BBS tournament tickets.
