Sebastian Gavi?o Beats Record South American Field to Secure Platinum Pass

The BSOP Millions, billed as the biggest poker tournament ever held in the Southern Hemisphere BSOP, concluded yesterday with the awarding of another Platinum Pass to the PokerStars Players Championship in August next year.

In the end it was Peruvian Sebastian Gavi?o who defeated Brazilian Gabriel Finetto heads-up to win R$132,570 (~$31,757) and the Platinum Pass worth an additional $30,000.

The tournament attracted a total of 4,142 entries, making it not only the biggest tournament in BSOP history, but the largest poker tournament ever held in South America.

The Platinum Pass will not only see him take a seat in the �22,500 buy-in PSPC, but also gives him six nights accommodation for him and one guest, airport transfer, custom PSPC merchandise and �1,250 in expenses.

Winner's Reaction

With PokerStars Ambassadors Chris Moneymaker and Andre Akkari on hand to award him the Platinum Pass, Gavi?o said his victory was "a dream come true."

��I really wanted to win the Platinum Pass to the PokerStars Players Championship in Barcelona, and thank God, my dream came true,�� Gavi?o told the PokerStars Blog. ��This victory is the best thing that has happened in my life. So far I had not lived anything like it.��

According to updates, the pivotal hand came five-handed where Gavi?o?held pocket aces in a three-way all in, resulting in him acquiring 75% of the chips in play. Heads-up Finetto battled in vain but the Peruvian held out to secure victory, becoming the latest recipient of a Platinum Pass.
