Ricardo Nascimento Still Leads the GG Masters POY Race
Were a quarter of the way through 2020 and the GG Masters Player of the Year race is seriously hotting up. Everyone wants to finish at the top of the leaderboard because a GGPoker sponsorship package valued at $500,000 is waiting for whoever does that.
Brazils Ricardo M@cacoCidadao Nascimento is the man to catch as we prepare to head into April. Nascimento won the GG Masters at GGPoker on January 26th and walked away with $44,945 and a bucketful of leaderboard points.
Nascimento then came close to winning his second GG Masters event on March 15. The Brazilian grinder finished fifth in that tournament for $11,941 and enough points for him to open a substantial lead at the top of the Player of the Year standings.
Cash and Rush Leaderboards Return!
Last week, Ryan getplunted Plant soared into second-place in the standings after winning the largest GG Master tournament to date. Plant topped a field of 3,051 after GGPoker increased the guarantee from $300,000 to $400,000. Plant won $42,958 and 1,297.75 points but already had another 83.76 points from a previous cash.
Last nights winner was StrongMentality who got their hands on the $71,961 top prize, the biggest awarded in the GG Masters so far. The guarantee has now swelled to $500,000 so winning one of the weekly tournaments is going to award a wealth of leaderboard points.

The formula used is: f * sqrt(Prize pool / k)
- k is the place of finish
- f=2.0 (1st place)
- f=1.5 (Final table)
- f=1.0 (In the money)
- f=0.5 (Bubble)
The winner of the Player of the Year race becomes an ambassador for GG with a package worth up to $500,000! Those finishing in second through 10th place win free tickets to all 2021 GG Masters tournaments, which is worth $7,800 at todays prices.
Dont worry if the $150 buy-in for the GG Masters is out of your reach, there are satellites running around the clock that start at only $1.50. Just be aware that players who win a seat from satellites are automatically registered for the next available GG Masters and you cant unregister. Its a small price to pay for for the tournament having its guarantee continually increasing.
It's never too late to try and catch Nascimento, one win or a few deep runs will see you climb up the leaderboard. Sign up to GGPoker here and join the Player of the Year race.
