Negreanu vs. Hellmuth

Who doesnt like it when two legends of the game are at the same table? That was the case in Event #20: $500 PLO 6-Handed when Daniel DNegs Negreanu and Phil Lumestackin Hellmuth were playing together in the money.

In Level 18 (2,500/5,000), Negreanu raised to 10,000 under the gun and Hellmuth three-bet all in for 29,937 next to act. Action folded back to the six-time bracelet winner and he called to put the 15-time bracelet winner at risk.

Daniel "DNegs" Negreanu: 8?4?6?5?
Phil "Lumestackin" Hellmuth: Q?K?K?10?

Hellmuth got it in while Negreanu was looking for low to middle cards. The 7?A?J? flop kept the "Poker Brat" firmly in the lead, but the 4? turn made things interesting by giving Negreanu a pair and wrap. The 3? river gave Negreanu the nuts and Hellmuth was ousted in 95th place for $920.97.

It wasnt a game-changing hand per se, but its definitely one Negreanu can hold over Hellmuth all summer long.

Leng Flops the Nuts But Doesnt Win

Ryan Leng

Event #24: $400 No-Limit Holdem 8-Handed ended in a slobber knocker heads-up match between Nick samadhi Binger and Ryan Adoptt_aDogg0 Leng, both of who were seeking their second gold bracelets. While that back-and-forth match ultimately saw Binger prevail, it was a hand during three-handed play that was the real heartbreaker.

It took place in Level 43 (160,000/320,000/40,000) with Leng holding a little over 18 million and Binger 13 million. Trailing further behind was Philip eric_shun Beesley with 5 million.

It began when Binger raised to 980,000 from the small blind and Leng called from the big blind to see a 7?5?9? flop. Binger bet 1,040,000 and then called when Leng raised to 2,666,669. When the 6? appeared on the turn, Binger checked and then called a bet of 3,503,500 from Leng.

The 8? river put a straight on the board and Binger checked. Leng moved all in and Binger called off for 5,805,945.

Ryan "Adopt_aDogg0" Leng: 6?8?
Nick samadhi Binger: K?K?

Leng had flopped the nuts but the unlucky runner-runner six and eight meant the two players were destined to chop. Given how Binger had been playing up to that point, it wasnt a stretch to imagine he wouldve paid off had the river been a brick. In a different world where that had been the case, Leng wouldve taken a huge chip lead into heads-up play against Beesley.

Instead, Binger survived and went on to ship the tournament while Leng surely lamented his bad luck in this hand.

RampageP Scores Double Elimination at Final Table

In Event #26:$500 NLH Grande Finale, Ethan RampageP Yau kept the masses entertained as he streamed his way to a WSOP gold bracelet. A self-described $1-$3 player who often loses, a lot of hands Yau played proved both compelling and on the luckier side of things.

Case in point, an early hand at the final table that took place in Level 40 (100,000/200,000/25,000). It began with Michael "Mike91680" Guzzardi moving all in for 1,877,652 from early position and Yau calling from the cutoff. Joon "jykpoker" Kim then moved all in for 2,621,472 from the big blind and Yau called.

Michael "Mike91680" Guzzardi: K?K?
Ethan "RampageP" Yau: A?8?
Joon "jykpoker" Kim: K?A?

The 10?9?5? kept Guzzardi in the lead, but the running 4? turn and Q? river gave Yau the diamond flush to score the double knockout. You can watch the hand in the long stream below at the 7:22:45 mark.
