PokerStars Sunday Briefing

The Bounty Builder Turbo Series 175: $109 NLHE [Sunday Million SE] event was part of our weekend preview where we said the tournament's $1 million guarantee would be blown out of the water. Our prediction was correct because 12.640 players bought in (including 3,695 re-entries), and they created a $1,264,000 prize pool.

Moldova's "S.N.I.N.1" was the last player standing in this huge online poker tournament. They padded their bankroll with a combined score worth $87,184.

Half the prize pool went onto the heads of each entrant with the top 2,258 finishers sharing the remaining 50%. Nobody at the final table could win less than $4,820 from the main prize pool pot, but the prizes were bolstered by some seriously large bounty payments.

"CallMeGio," for example, finished in ninth place for $4,820 but collected $4,019 worth of scalps along the way to secure a total prize worth $8,839. Their total haul was slightly larger than the $8,731 collected by Canadian grinder "ulan2009".

Everyone else at the final table won more than $16,000 with those all-important bounties included.

"Rohlik2" and "gremistaAK" netted prizes of $16,119 and $16,463. Then came the exit of "Lifedusi" of the Netherlands. The Dutch star helped themselves to $8,530 from the bounty prize pool, more than any other player barring the eventual champion. This meant Lifedusi banked $25,910 for their fifth-place finish, only slightly less than the $29,170 secured by "PabloPool12" who crashed out one place deeper.

"neclord-doom" ran out of steam in third, a finish worth a combined $39,150, which set up a one-on-one battle between "dir112" of Argentina and S.N.I.N.1 of Moldova. Both players locked in a shade over $54,000 for their super deep runs, but the bounties were now massive. Those bounties meant S.N.I.N.1 reeled in an additional $33,100 when they defeated dir112 heads-up, resulting in a first-place prize worth $87,184. Second place prize money topped the scales at $59,472.

Luan "Pseudo Fruto" Felipe Wins $45.5K in 2.5 Hours!

Winning $45,517 from an online poker tournament at PokerStars would make any player happy. But imagine if you managed to secure a payout of that size in less than 2.5 hours. That is exactly what Luan "Pseudo Fruto" Felipe did when he finished first from 586 entrants in the Bounty Builder Turbo Series 181: $530 NLHE [6-Max, Hyper-Turbo, Progressive KO, Sunday Supersonic SE].

This special edition of the Sunday Supersonic pitched its first cards at 10:30 p.m. BST on June 6 and was done and dusted by 12:59 a.m. on June 7. During that time, all but one of the 586 entrants busted out, leaving Felipe to revel in the glory of victory with $45,517 extra in his PokerStars account.

Felipe defeated Matt "OLD TIME GIN" Stone heads-up. Both players' main prize pool payout was the same but for a few cents. The chunky bounties made all the difference, however. Stone's $22,838 prize was padded with $7,564 of bounties, but Felipe's prize increase by a cool $22,679 courtesy of him winning not only Stone's bounty but the payment on his own head.
