Caesars Palace Renovation

If you're planning on heading to Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker later this year, then one of the Strip's most iconic properties might look a little different.

That's because Caesars Palace is going to be undergoing a multimillion-dollar makeover that will see the main entrance to the property completely rebuilt.

The Project

The main entrance to Caesars Palace has been made famous by its appearance in films such as The Hangover, Ocean's Eleven and many more. The redesign will feature a large high-dome ceiling and a 15-foot-tall state of Caesar, as well as two redesigned gaming areas, a renovated table games area and a new lobby bar.

Construction is scheduled to begin in early July, with most of the project set to be complete by New Year's Eve.

"Caesars Palace brought a sense of grandeur to the Las Vegas Strip when it was built in 1966, and we're proud to continue that legacy with a full reimagining of our main entrance," said Sean McBurney, Caesars Entertainment Regional President. "Completely rebuilding the front entrance of one of the world's most iconic destinations is no small task, and we're excited to get started and create a stunning new visual welcome for our guests."

History of Caesars Palace

Built in 1966, Caesars Palace is one of the oldest hotels on the Las Vegas Strip. It has a rich and storied history, playing host over the years to the likes of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Elton John and Mariah Carey.

This will be the largest renovation project at Caesars Palace since the hotel's original Tower underwent a $75 million renovation in 2016, where the tower was shut for a month and all 587 rooms were upgraded and modernized.

Poker at Caesars Palace

Poker and Caesars Palace have gone hand in hand for decades. It hosted Amarillo Slim's Super Bowl of Poker from 1987 to 1990, the 2005 WSOP Tournament of Champions and the NBC Heads-up Championship from 2006 to 2013.

Mike Matusow sits atop the Caesars Palace all-time money list, after winning the 2005 WSOP Tournament of Champions and winning the NBC Heads-Up Championship in January 2013.

The top 10 list is full of huge names in the world of poker, with no fewer than four WSOP Main Event champions: Johnny Chan, Huck Seed, Chris Ferguson, and three-time Main Event winner Stu Ungar who won the Super Bowl of Poker in 1988 and 1989.
