2022 wsop schedule poker

The 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) schedule is now official, and it includes 88 live and 14 online bracelet events at the Horseshoe (currently Bally's) and Paris casinos on the Las Vegas Strip from May 31 to July 20. Players won't be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 this year.

Last year's poker extravaganza took place in the fall due to COVID-19, but the 53rd annual WSOP will return to its traditional summer slot. The upcoming poker series will see a change in venue from the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino for the first time since it was hosted downtown at Binion's, the WSOP's original home.

Players will be welcomed to the new venue on May 31 with the beginning of in-person registration, tournaments, satellites, and cash games. The first two bracelet events include a $100,000 high roller bounty right out of the gates, and as per usual, the $500 Casino Employees No-Limit Hold'em event.

Early in the series (June 2), the WSOP is hosting a $500 buy-in Housewarming No-Limit Hold'em tournament to welcome players to the new host site, and $5 million are guaranteed in that event.

Return of the Tournament of Champions

Among the new events scheduled for this coming summer is the return of an old favorite. The Tournament of Champions, a freeroll to the 88 live bracelet winners in 2022 and 2022 Circuit ring winners, takes place July 18-20 and will serve as the final event of the 53rd annual summer poker festival.

The Tournament of Champions features a $1 million guaranteed prize pool. This will be the first year since 2010 the TOC has taken place. It also ran from 2004 to 2006, and some of the game's biggest stars have captured the coveted prize in the past. In the past, the tournament was invite-only and this will be the first year all bracelet winners have been invited to the event.

Annie Duke won the inaugural TOC in 2004 for $2 million, beating out Phil Hellmuth heads-up. She was the only player out of 10 in the freeroll to win money. Mike Matusow won it for $1 million in 2005, Mike Sexton took it down for $1,000,000 in 2006, and Huck Seed shipped it for $500,000 in 2010.

TV Coverage, Vaccines, Face Masks, Parking, and a Celebrity Ambassador

The 2022 World Series of Poker will feel more normal than last year. Not only is it returning to the summer, but the WSOP doesn't have plans at this time to require COVID-19 vaccination to compete. Of course, that isn't set in stone and that could change if Nevada's pandemic guidelines are altered. Face masks also won't be required of attendees.

Actor Vince Vaughn will serve as Master of Ceremonies this summer and will compete in some WSOP events. The star of hit flicks such as Wedding Crashers and Old School will give the WSOP some non-poker mainstream attention.

With the WSOP taking place on the Strip going forward, that means the parking situation won't be as easy as it was with the Rio's massive free parking lot right behind the convention center. But there are numerous parking ramps within walking distance to the casinos, including at Horseshoe (Bally's), Paris, Harrah's, and The Linq, all Caesars Entertainment properties.

The main WSOP cage will be in Paris' convention center space where most Day 1 tournaments will run, and the TV feature table will be placed in the Bally's event center. Players will not be moved from casino to casino while tables break. Bally's and Paris convention center spaces are connected along a hallway and the two properties have a shared parking garage.

PokerGO and CBS Sports Network will once again handle the broadcast duties for this year's World Series of Poker. There will be 18 bracelet event final tables streamed on PokerGO, and at least 15 hours of Main Event coverage provided. A full broadcast schedule will be available on a future date.
