Table Of Contents
Joe Hindry is 60,000 richer than a few days ago courtesy of him becoming the latest champion of the 888poker LIVE London Main Event. Hindry was one of 602 players who packed into The Poker Room, formerly The Vic, and his reward for being the last man standing was a career-best score of 60,000.
Hindry has an admirable record in the British capital with three of his four five-figure cashes, before this event, stemming from London events. His third-place finish in the 2016 UKIPT London Main Event came with a 37,110 score. That sum remained his biggest payout for almost six years before he got his hands on the 60,000 top prize of this tournament.

The player known simply as "K.N." was the first of the nine finalists to fall by the wayside. K.N. open-shoved from the button for only 345,000 with blinds 50,000/100,000/100,000a, with ace-jack. Matt Gray called in the small blind with a pair of red threes and won the pot when the board ran out void of aces or jacks.
Michael Burnett was the next player out of the door. Hindry found pocket kings in the hijack and min-raised to 200,000 and Burnett called from the big blind with ten-nine of spades, leaving himself only 6.6 big blinds behind. Burnett moved all-in on the jack-high flop with nothing but a gutshot straight draw, and Hindry called. The all-in player caught a ten on the turn but missed on the river.
Seventh place went to Calogero Morreale who ran into the hot-running Hindry. Morreale open-shoved for 1,200,000 at the 80,000/160,000/160,000a level from the small blind with king-nine. Hindry called with the dominating ace-nine, which held as the board ran out jack-high.

The players enjoyed a little more elbow room when Steven Game busted. Game finished in seventh place in the 888 buy-in 888Live London Festival in mid-January, and ran out of steam in sixth place this time around. Game crashed out after running into a monster hand. Hindry min-raised to 320,000 with king-ten in the hijack, Game responded with a 2,300,000 three-bet shove with pocket sevens on the button, only for Rodrigo Gwaderaaze to wake up in the big blind with a shiny pair of red aces. Gwaderaaze put his 3,500,000 stack into the middle, and Hindry folded. The aces held on a draw-heavy board, and Game bowed out.
Fifth-place and 9,870, the tournaments last five-figure prize, went to Neil McCulloch who had been nursing a short stack for a while. He made a move at the worst possible time. Hindry min-raised to 320,000 before snap-calling McCullochs 1,900,000 shove. McCulloch turned over jack-six of spades and was in a whole world of pain against the pocket aces of Hindry. An ace on the flop left McCulloch drawing thin, but it was Hindry who improved his hand, hitting a full house on the river.

Five Figure Scores All Around
Gray was the first player to get his hands on a five-figure score, namely 15,660. Gwaderaaze opened to 320,000 with ace-eight from the button, Gray three-bet to 1,400,000 with queen-ten of hearts in the small blind, leaving himself 1,700,000 behind. Gwaderaaze paused for more than a minute before shoving all-in, and Gray called off the chips he had behind. Gwaderaaze caught an ace on the turn, and Gray headed to the cashiers desk.
Heads-up was set soon after Grays demise when Kevin Allen crashed out in third. Allen, a seasoned and popular pro, collected 24,800 for this latest deep run. Allen can count himself extremely unlucky to bust how he did. Hindry limped in for 200,000 from the small blind with jack-seven, and Allen checked in the big blind with jack-deuce. a deuce-seven-king flop saw Hindry bet 200,000 and Allen call. The turn as a jack, improving both players to an unlikely two pair. Hindry led for 500,000, and Allen called. A five on the river did not change the course of the hand, and Hindley moved all-in. Allen instantly called off the 1,600,000 chips he had behind, and was shown the bad news.
Hindley held a sizeable chip lead over Gwaderaaze but it still took more than 40 minutes to crown the champion. The final hand took place during the 150,000/300,000 level and saw Hindley shove with ace-jack of clubs. Gwaderaaze called off his 2,700,000 stack with the dominating ace-queen, but fell behind courtesy of a jack on the flop. Hindrys hand held when the turn and river both bricked, resigning Gwaderaaze to the 40,930 runner-up prize.
