Day 4 of PokerNews Cup Brings Out More Large Fields, Big Winners
Thursday, April 13, was another exciting day of poker action in the PokerNews Cup on Global Poker. There were tournaments both for Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins players, and each event once again drew a large crowd.
We'll start things off with a recap of PokerNews Cup Qualifier 04 -- GC 11,000 No-Limit Hold'em Deepstack, which had GC 4,000,000 guaranteed. The winner automatically advanced to the PokerNews Cup GC 100,000,000 final later this month, and that individual is none other than "SamBJammin," who beat out a field of 353 players to earn GC 765,600 on top of that series finale ticket.
There were additional winners of note, including the runner-up, "IBullet," who collected GC 570,000. The third-place finisher was "Josiahsky" (GC 420,000). In fourth place was our very own PokerNews Stream Team member Jack "BittyPlaysPoker" Bittker (GC 320,000).
Sweeps Coins events also took place, including the PokerNews Cup Qualifier 04 SC 11 No Limit Hold'em Deepstack (SC 10,000 GTD). It was "72Kingswood" taking it down for SC 4,158.94. In skillfully outlasting an enormous field of 2,649 entrants, the champion also earned a spot in the upcoming PokerNews Cup SC 250,000 final. All players who finished in second to ninth place automatically advance to the semifinal round; the incredible generosity of Global Poker knows no bounds!
The runner-up in the tournament was "InfraredMegatron," who earned SC 3,112.58. Taking third place and receiving SC 2,225.17 was "Theo247." An obvious fan of the great Phil Ivey took fourth place for SC 1,525.83 "Philiveysboy1."
Two More Winners on Day 5 in PokerNews Cup
The excitement in the Global Poker x PokerNews Cup continued on Friday with two new tournaments that resulted in two new winners.
Both champions will automatically be entered in the PokerNews Cup finals on April 30. That is the case for all the qualifying round winners. Those who finish in second to eighth place receive a spot in the semifinals, and the remainder of the top 50 in each tournament advance to the quarterfinals, where they can attempt to work their way up to the finals.
The PokerNews Cup Qualifier 05 GC 11,000 NLH Bounty (8-Max) had and impressive GC 4,000,000 guaranteed. When all was said and done, "TBrick" was the only player out of 371 original entrants still standing. This player, on top of earning a spot in the finals, received GC 655,310.
There were others who earned themselves some Gold Coins, including the runner-up "Lad23der" (Robbie Moore), who tweeted about being "so close." Still, he advanced to the semifinals automatically and earned GC 480,265 for his efforts. "Neptune" took third place for GC 348,090, while "ENYguitar" busted in fourth place for GC 278,640.
Over in the Sweeps Coins events, Friday's tournament was PokerNews Cup Qualifier 05 SC 11 NLH Bounty (8-Max), which had an SC 10,000 guarantee.
There were an incredible 2,509 entrants chasing a spot in the finals and some great prizes. But none of them could outlast "Lsutigerfan225," who earned SC 3,187.35 for the impressive performance. It's never easy weeding your way through such a massive field, so a hat tip to this fan of the LSU Tigers. Geaux Tigers, champ.
One spot shy of getting all the glory was "Jabrony50," who earned SC 2,384.50 as a consolation prize. In third place was "Sgt.Suckout" who may or may not have sucked out a few times to claim the SC 1,768.27 prize. And in fourth place for SC 1,214.25 was "RUeTaMa."
