The PokerStars Eureka Hamburg 2023 Main Event drew in 703 entrants and it was Germany's Amir Mozaffarian who came out on top and who turned his 1,100 investment into 123,780 from the 667,850 prize pool.

The 2023 edition of this event marked the first time Hamburg had hosted a Eureka Main Event for six years. It was also the best-attended of the Eureka Hamburg Main Events, beating the 2015 record of 581 entrants by some distance.

Mozaffarian was already known in the PokerStars live circuit after victories in side events at the 2014 European Poker Tour (EPT) London and 2015 EPT Prague festivals. However, the 123,780 prize awarded to Mozaffarian for his impressive takedown of this Eureka Hamburg Main Event is the German's six-figure score.

7Timo SchumannGermany19,340
8Branko SamardzicGermany14,880
9Ercan AtmacaNetherlands11,450

Each of the nine finalists locked in at least 11,450 for their efforts, and it was the Netherlands' Ercan Atmaca who collected this sum when they bowed out in ninth.

Branko Samardzic saw his tournament end in an eighth-place finish worth 14,880 before Timo Schumann crashed by the wayside in seventh for 19,340. Schumann had earlier finished tenth in the 330 buy-in Eureka Hamburg Cup.

Sixth place and 25,140, a career-best haul, went to Hendrik Kwiatkowski, with Robin Kazemieh-Aghdam also bagging a career-high score of 32,690 when their deep run ended in a fifth-place finish.

Johannes Erfurth

Johannes Erfurth, as Schumann mentioned above, cashed in the 330 Eureka Hamburg Cup (11th - 2,420) before playing in the 1,100 Main Event. Erfurth could not progress deeper than fourth, which came with a bankroll-boosting 42,500.

The 2023 Eureka Hamburg Main Event progressed to the heads-up stage when Christian Gurr ran out of steam. Gurr's reward weighed in at 55,250, which is his largest single haul to-date.

Mozaffarian locked horns heads-up with Slovakia's Tomas Patka. You may recall that Patka finished third for 137,100 in the 1,100 FPS Monte Carlo Main Event in April 2023, narrowly missing out on the winner's trophy and more than 300,000. Sadly, for Patka at least, he fell short again, busting in second place for a 77,350 addition to his bankroll, leaving a delighted Mozaffarian to receive 123,780 and the title of champion.
