Sean Perry Super Bowl Bet

Poker player Sean Perry, who claims to be one of the best sports bettors in the world, lost a $1.1 million Super Bowl bet on the San Francisco 49ers.

The Niners lost Sunday night to the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs in overtime, 25-22, in a thrilling game for the ages. Patrick Mahomes, who orchestrated a brilliant game-winning drive, won his third Super Bowl MVP and is now in the G.O.A.T. conversation with Tom Brady.

Gambling Guru Gets Crushed

Prior to kickoff, Perry shared his seven-figure ticket on X placed at Circa Sports, one of the biggest reported bets of the entire Super Bowl. The bet on San Francisco, a slight favorite, to win the game at -110 odds would have paid out $2,100,000, for a $1 million profit.

For much of the game, it appeared the former poker pro with over $6.8 million in live tournament cashes was headed for victory. The 49ers led 10-0 late in the first half and didn't trail until late in the third quarter.

San Francisco was a fourth down stop in overtime away from winning the game, but a Mahomes scramble kept the final drive alive. Kansas City won it on a three-yard pass to Mecole Hardman Jr. with just three seconds remaining, a crushing blow to Perry and anyone who bet on the Niners.

Following the game, Perry showed some humility in a brief video, explaining, more or less, that no one wins every bet. He also offered an upcoming free pick to his sports betting subscribers.

Perry, who is no longer a regular in high-stakes poker tournaments, has moved on to a career in sports betting. He charges gamblers for sports betting picks and claims to be one of the best in the business. In doing so, he's attracted plenty of haters and been referred to as a "scammer" by sports bettors and poker pros such as Shaun Deeb. Not to mention, getting mocked by Will Jaffe in a few parody videos.

Perry wasn't the only poker player who bet big on the Super Bowl. Jesse Lonis threw down some cash and won $200,000 betting on the Chiefs. Betting against Patrick Mahomes in a big game is never a wise idea, which Perry learned the hard way. The Chiefs are now 15-3 in the playoffs under Mahomes' leadership, and haven't lost a playoff game since 2021.
