#GrowPAPoker

Last week, PokerNews Ambassador and Pennsylvania native Keith Becker, offered his first PA poker update. Part of it focused on the #GrowPAPoker campaign, which took place on Tuesday, May 7th.

PokerNews joined forces with Pokerfuse.com and poker players all over Pennsylvania to promote the inclusion of Pennsylvania in the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA). The goal of the campaign was to get the attention of various lawmakers in the Keystone State to encourage them to support HB 2078, which is a piece of legislation authorizing the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to enter a shared liquidity agreement with other states including Nevada, New Jersey, and Michigan.

With a population of nearly 13 million residents, Pennsylvania joining shared liquidity would be a huge boost; in fact, it has the largest population of all four states mentioned. Not only would it mean more games and larger prize pools for players, but it would also result in more tax revenue for Pennsylvania.

As part of the campaign, PokerStars USA offered a special freeroll for players in Pennsylvania. The #GrowPAPoker Freeroll saw $2,078 added to the prize pool and played out over the course of three hours on Tuesday night.

The top 71 finishers from the 352-entry field got a piece of the prize pool, and in the end, the final four players struck a deal that saw them each take $231.01 in prize money, while PittsburghPoker got a penny more than that and was deemed the official winner.
