Daniel Negreanu 2024 WSOP

Daniel Negreanu is not running well at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP), and things got even worse for the poker legend on Tuesday in Event #47: $100,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold'em.

The six-figure buy-in tournament attracted 95 entrants on Day 1, with registration still open entering Wednesday's Day 2 session. At the end of play, Henrik Hecklen bagged the largest stack, while Nick Petrangelo, Jared Bleznick, and Jeremy Ausmus were among the 44 who made it through the session with chips.

Aces Doom Negreanu

Early on Day 1, Negreanu three-bet jammed all in for less than starting stack with K?J?. John Kincaid, in the big blind, woke up with A?A?, and the best hand held up, sending the GGPoker ambassador to the rebuy line.

Negreanu also busted from the $25k High Roller earlier in the series when he jammed into pocket aces, albeit with only a 10 big blind stack at the time.

The six-time bracelet winner would reenter the $100k, and the result of his second bullet must have felt like deja vu.

On Level 12, with the blinds at 15,000/30,000, the PokerNews live reporting action was picked up on a board of 4?2?K?5?. Negreanu bet out 150,000 with A?9? straight draw with the nut flush draw.

Samuel Ju made the call with an unknown hand, before Sergio Aido moved all in with, go figure, A?A?. Ju folded, but Negreanu had too big of a hand to fold.

The K? on the river meant the official end to the tournament for Negreanu after two bullets.

If you've followed Negreanu's WSOP vlogs this summer, you're well aware that the series hasn't exactly gone as he'd hoped. But there is some good news for the Poker Hall of Famer it's only the middle of the series, which means there's plenty of time to turn it around.

Up to this point, however, Negreanu hasn't even been a factor in the Player of the Year race. He does have five cashes plus one online but none for any substantial amount, and he hasn't reached a final table.

Negreanu, who openly shares his up-to-date profits and losses at the end of every WSOP vlog, has posted consecutive losing WSOP's totaling nearly $1.9 million. He's looking to turn that around in 2024, but is down over $380,000 thus far. Entering the series, he was off to a red hot start to the year, with two high roller wins and six top three finishes since January.

Negreanu was auctioned for $132 to Team DPMC in the WSOP $25k Fantasy Draft, the highest bid among the 152 players drafted. According to the 25k Fantasy website, he's given the team that drafted him just 52 points, good for 49th best in the league.
