Pedro Padilha Swerves the Early WSOP; Banks $104K at PokerStars

Not every poker tournament player has jetted off to Las Vegas for the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP); some have stayed at home and got their grind on in the online poker streets. Brazilian Pedro "PaDiLhA SP" Padilha is one such player, opting to miss the early stages of the WSOP, and to great effect.
Padilha was one of 77 entrants in the $5,200 Titans Event, PokerStars' highest buy-in weekly tournament. The top nine finishers won a slice of the $385,000 prize pool, and Padilha came away with a cool $103,915 after bulldozing his way to victory.
After Padilha's fellow Brazilian, Rodrigo "SELOUAN1991" Selouan fell in tenth place and popped the money bubble, the surviving nine players made their way to the final table with at least $12,002 to show for their efforts.
Jonathan "Proudflop" Proudfoot was the recipient of that sum courtesy of a ninth-place finish. Poland's "happyk99" ($13,741) and German sensation "Sintoras" ($18,347) were the next to be relieved of their stacks before Pascal "Pass_72" Lefrancois ($24,495) headed for the showers.
The final five became four after the elimination of "IamMickeyBR" ($32,704), and then three following the untimely demise of the number-loving Ukrainian "234241234214432." ($43,664). The Ukrainian star enjoyed a profitable Sunday at the PokerStars table because they triumphed in the SCOOP Afterparty edition of the $1,050 NLHE Sunday High Roller for an additional $49,424.
Finland's Samuel "�urop�an" Vousden helped himself to the $58,296 third-place prize, which left Padilha heads-up against Bulgaria's "I Attack95." Padilha got the job done in the one-on-one clash and raked in $103,915, leaving his Bulgarian opponent to bank a $77,832 consolation prize.

"Gremio CEM" Navigates Their Way Through Some of Poker's Stars
The $530 buy-in Bounty Builder High Roller attracted 267 entrants, who built a $150,000 prize pool. Brazil's "Gremio CEM" helped themselves to $25,132 of that sum after navigating their way through sark-infested waters.
The nine-handed final table hosted some elite-level grinders, not least Preben "prebz" Stokkan, who ran out of steam in sixth place, a finish good for $5,782, including bounties.
Roman "Gogac sniper" Hrabec joined the list of busted players; his fifth-place finish earned him $6,600.
The tournament eventually progressed to the heads-up stage when online poker veteran Ilya "Leqenden" Anatsky bowed out in third for $15,856, which was the first five-figure prize of the tournament.
The heads-up duo of "Gremio CEM" and Lithuanian superstar Matas "bebehamis777" Cimbolas locked in $13,897 from the regular prize pool, leaving the bounties to play for. "Gremio CEM" claimed the bounty from Cimbolas' heads and also received his own bounty after coming out of the final clash unscathed. This resulted in a total prize worth $25,132 for the champion, and a runner-up prize of $14,881 for Cimbolas.
