Resorts World to Host The Big Deal for One Drop During F1; Hellmuth to Emcee
Resorts World Las Vegas announced a new high-stakes charity poker tournament in partnership with the World Poker Tour (WPT) and the One Drop Foundation that will take place during the Formula 1 weekend in November.
The Big Deal for One Drop will be a $10,000 buy-in event with up to 54 players competing while raising money for the One Drop Foundation, which helps communities solve the water and climate crisis. Seventeen-time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth is set to emcee the event.
"So far, I have MCd charity events raising over $75 million for many great charities," Hellmuth said in the annoucement. "I look forward to raising more funds for worthy causes in November.
In the past 12 years, One Drop has created iconic poker tournaments that are going to be in the big history book of poker for a long time," added One Drop Foundation founder Guy Lalibert. "The Big Deal for One Drop is going to be one of those, for the fun aspect and for the people it will draw."
In its announcement, Resorts Worlds noted that the tournament "will feature Race Week personalities, celebrities, and a few select poker pros battling it out on the felt for prizes, money-cant-buy experiences, and bragging rights."
The Big Deal for One Drop will take place on November 22 at noon local time inside the Alle Lounge on 66 at Resorts World. Like most charity events, there will be rebuys and add-ons available throughout the tournament.
This special event, in partnership with the One Drop Foundation and Resorts World, is certainly a not-to-be-missed event for any poker enthusiasts looking to add a fun, global impact angle to Race Week in the heart of Las Vegas," said WPT CEO Adam Pliska.
Formula 1 will return to Las Vegas November 21-23. Last year's race included several charity events and other festivities at Resorts World that PokerNews documented, including a Q&A session with F1 superstar Max Verstappen.
