Join PokerNews in Morocco for the 2024 UDSO Marrakech Series
The Casino de Marrakech in the Moroccan capital will be awash with poker players from far and wide between September 20-29 because the Unibet DeepStack Open series is in town. A bustling schedule of 34 events and satellites await anyone traveling to Marrakech, and PokerNews' live reporting team will be on hand to provide coverage of the eagerly anticipated Main Event.
The 2024 UDSO Marrakech Main Event features four flights, including a turbo-structured Day 1D. Each flight costs MAD 6,000 to enter, which is approximately $600. If last year is anything to base judgment on, the Main Event should be rather large, as 752 players bought in and created a MAD 3,835,200 prize pool ($374,985).
Plenty of well-known players navigated their way into the money places in the 2023 edition. They included Arnaud Enselme, Unibet Poker ambassador David Lappin, Alexandre Reard, and Sonny Franco.
Frenchman Alexandre Le Vaillant is the reigning champion. Le Villaint banked MAD 625,000 ($61,109) in 2023 and will likely be back at the Casino de Marrakech to attempt a title defence.
This year's UDSO Marrakech Main Event sees players sit down with 50,000 chips and play to 50-minute levels (15 minutes on the Day 1D Turbo), giving plenty of room to maneuver. The top 25% of players progress to Day 2, where the plan is to whittle the field to 16 players. Day 3, the final day, is on September 29 and continues until a champion is crowned.
Of course, PokerNews will be with the Main Event from the pitching of the first cards to the momentous occasion of the UDSO Marrakech winner's announcement.
