Get Ready For Some Poker Fun in the Sun with the 2024 Malta Poker Festival
Table Of Contents
Summer is drawing to a close in many parts of the world, leaving people yearning for some fun in the sun. Poker tournament grinders can combine the beautiful Mediterranean weather with hot poker action at the 2024 Autumn Malta Poker Festival.
The inaugural Malta Poker Festival took place in November 2018, and it was a rip-roaring success. Poker players from far and wide descended on the Portomaso Casino in St. Julian's, Malta, for the week-long series that culminated in a €550 buy-in Malta Poker Festival Grand Event (the Main Event). That tournament drew in 1,366 entrants, with Italian Enamuele Onnis coming out on top and banking an impressive €150,000 for his victory.
The festival expanded in 2019 before, like every other live poker series, going on a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It returned in 2022 with a spring and an Autumn edition, a trend that continued in 2023 and again this year.
2024 Malta Poker Festival Schedule
Organizers have created a schedule of 46 events and satellites for the 2024 Malta Poker Festival. Those tournaments run from October 26 through November 4 and come with buy-ins from €65 up to €2,500, the latter being the buy-in of the Super High Roller hosted by PokerNews' very own Lukas "RobinPoker" Robinson.
With its juicy €500,000 guaranteed prize pool, the €550 buy-in MPF Grand Event is the tournament everyone is gunning for. It features eight flights, including two with turbo blind structures. Those looking for additional value should consider entering on Day 1A because you can buy-in for the bargain price of €400 instead of €550 on future Day 1s.
In 2023, the MPF Grand Event saw 1,444 entries build a pot containing €693,120, almost 39% more than the advertised €500,000 guarantee. All nine finalists raked in at least five figures, with the final two players, Kjetil Hanstvedt and champion Arthur Navellou, striking a deal that awarded them €115,000 each.
Amazingly, Hanstvedt finished fifth in the Spring edition earlier in 2023 for another €20,150.
At the more recent 2024 Spring Edition MPF Grand Event, Frenchman Jordan Dumas outlasted 1,459 opponents and helped himself to €100,900 of the €700,800 prize pool. Expect similar numbers for this latest Grand Event.

Online Satellites are in the Pipeline
Satellites for various 2024 Malta Poker Festival Autumn Edition will be available online in the run up to the festival. Currently, the online qualifier landing page has a "Coming Soon…" placeholder. That could be because the Malta Poker Festival often partners with sites on the iPoker Network, and those sites currently have their hands full hosting the network's largest-ever online tournament series.
The €7.5 million guaranteed Elite Series XL Autumn Edition runs until October 1, so expect more details about online satellites for the upcoming Malta Poker Festival Autumn 2024 to become available around then. Of course, PokerNews will update this article with online qualifier information as soon as it becomes available, so bookmark this article and return to it later.
