NJCOP II To Guarantee $1 Million on partypoker NJ and Borgata Poker in April
The New Jersey Championship of Online Poker (NJCOP) is back for its second-edition, taking place from April 16-26 on partypoker NJ and BorgataPoker.com.
The schedule features 35 action-packed online tournaments with a combined $1,000,000 in guaranteed prize pools. The highlight of the series is the $200 buy-in $150,000 GTD NLH Main Event taking place on April 26 at 17:00 ET.
The series was strategically organized to coincide with the Borgata Spring Poker Open and the World Poker Tour World Championship in hopes many poker players outside of New Jersey will join in on some of the tournaments during the poker festival. While players must be in the state of New Jersey to play on any of the state-regulated sites, they do not need to be residents of the Garden State to play in the NJCOP II or other games being hosted.
The first NJCOP took place in April 2014, featuring 15 events with combined prize pools of $600,000 guaranteed. The inaugural NJCOP series featured less events and smaller overall guaranteed prize pools, however, its Main Event boasted a larger $200,000 guaranteed prize pool. This tournament attracted 892 runners with New Jersey poker player "MikeFrancesa" winning $33,577 for finishing on top after a four-way deal.
The current edition of the NJCOP kicks off with the $100 buy-in NJCOP #1 - $20,000 GTD NHL Freezeout - 9 Max - Player's Choice on April 16 at 18:00 ET followed by the $150 buy-in NJCOP #2 - $10,000 GTD PLO8 6max starting later in the day at 19:00 ET.
While the largest part of the schedule features the most popular poker variant, no-limit hold'em, there are tournaments available in fixed-limit hold'em, pot-limit Omaha, pot-limit Omaha hi-lo, and seven-card stud. Additionally, the series takes advantage of a variety of formats including full-ring, six-max, heads-up, turbo, bounty, super-bounty, rebuy, and deepstack.
The tournament buy-ins in the series range from $50 to $1,000, but players can qualify into NJCOP II tournaments cheaper by playing satellites and Mega satellites hosted online.
