Who's playing?

We don't know who will make it to the final game of the postseason just yet, but who would bet against the New England Patriots at least making an appearance, if not winning the whole thing.

The only serious challenger in the AFC right now is the Kansas City Chiefs, with their juggernaut of an offence led by third-year QB Patrick Mahomes

Then there are the Buffalo Bills.

The team from Western New York has made a surprising start, and any NFL nostalgist might want to see them return to the dance after their four successive losses in the '90s.

The first of those losses- a 20-19 win for the New York Giants- was one of the greatest games of all-time.

It also featured arguably the greatest National Anthem performance in the history of the event, courtesy of none other than Ms Whitney Houston.

Over in the NFC, Russel Wilson is having an MVP-type season and maybe on course for a second ring.

Who could forget when Wilson and the Seahawks lost against the Patriots after having a chance to win on the final play of the game?

Coach Pete Carroll opted to go for a pass play when they had 'beastmode' himself, Marshawn Lynch in the backfield.

It may be considered one of the best finals ever, but the Seahawks will always remember it as the one that got away.

A tasty affair

The San Francisco 49ers are having quite the season with Jimmy Garoppolo at QB.

How tasty would it be if the sixth-year passer took on his former teammate Tom Brady in the big game?

The one-time heir apparent to Brady's throne was pushed out of New England, with rumors of the great one being unhappy with being asked to take on the role of mentor.

Last year's big game again saw Brady take on another talented young QB when the Patriots played the LA Rams.

It was billed as an offensive affair, with the best QB of all-time Tom Brady going up against third-year gunslinger Jared Goff.

Ultimately it didn't turn out that way, with the Patriots winning the game by a score of 13-3. In fact, it was the lowest-scoring game in the history of the event.

Maybe the next big game will more closely resemble some of the classics we've seen over the years.

The first game that is still regarded as a classic took place in 1969 when the New York Jets beat the Indianapolis Colts 16-7.

While that wasn't a particularly high-scoring game, either, it was one where the losers were favored by 18 points.

We've seen some real dynasties since then.

We've already mentioned the Patriots, but then there was the Dallas Cowboys- the team of the '90s that handed the Bills two of their four Super Bowl losses. And what about the San Francisco 49ers and their four rings?

No pressure

Joe 'Cool' Montana was a wizard when throwing to Jerry Rice and John Taylor in the 49ers' West Coast offence, with their greatest game for the neutral taking place in 1989 when they beat the Cincinnati Bengals 20-16.

They've been waiting a long time for their fifth. No pressure, Jimmy Garoppolo!
