7:00 | Joe discusses his probability of getting back to the WSOP Main Event final table. You have high hopes, but it is such a long journey with so many people that you really dont think about it until you start getting there. Its kind of just one day at a time. |
8:06 | Joe recalls how tough it was playing poker after winning the 2009 WSOP Main Event as players were playing differently against him. |
10:15 | Joe describes his tough day on Day 1C of the 2018 WSOP Main Event. Actually, I had a couple chances on Day 1 where I could have been out if people had played their hands slightly different against me. I couldnt win a hand the whole day. |
12:52 | Joe recalls a hand where he survived during the 2009 WSOP Main Event final table with only a few big blinds and was fortunate that the button folded an ace or else he would have been eliminated in seventh place. |
14:16 | Joe describes his steady climb on Day 2c of the 2018 WSOP Main Event. |
15:43 | Bernard and Joe discuss how other players sometimes feel they are short stacked in the WSOP Main Event when they still have plenty of chips. Often, they force the action and ultimately punt away their stack. Joe focuses on remaining patient and playing solid poker. Thats kind of how the days went. I tried to remain tight and have people respect the hands I was playing and occasionally bluff in good spots. |
20:04 | Joe recalls his brutal Day 3 of the 2018 WSOP Main Event. From Day 3 on, I had the chip leader of the tournament at my table and Day 3 is the worst day to have it because its bubble time. |
21:24 | Bernard and Joe compare his 2009 WSOP Main Event run to 2018. In the first year (2009), it was much smoother sailing than this year (2018). I was always like double average the whole tournament and never all in until the final table (in 2009). |
24:55 | Joe discusses his strategy and mindset for Day 7 of 2018 WSOP Main Event. It wasnt really any pressure, it was just trying to play good poker. |

30:25 | Joe describes the hand he was eliminated by Tony Miles in fifth place. |

33:44 | Bernard continues his interview with Joe, summarizing his entire 2018 WSOP, including his two bracelet wins. |
34:19 | Bernard and Joe discuss the remarkable WSOP final table bubble hand. I couldnt believe it myself. It was kind of unbelievable. It was crazy that it happened on the bubble. |
41:32 | Joe offers his thoughts about having no break before the 2018 WSOP Main Event final table. I think ideally it would be a few day break just so everyone could have their family and friends fly in appropriately. |
44:15 | Joe describes his seat position at the 2018 WSOP Main Event final table. I had an amazing seat just because I had the two chip leaders on my right. I had a perfect seat at that final table. |
44:45 | Bernard and Joe discuss in detail the memorable confrontation between Joe and John Cynn during five-handed play. |
50:27 | Joe was completely fine with being eliminated in fifth place. It was my turn to lose that flip. I felt okay on how I went out. |
51:31 | Bernard wraps up Part 1 of his interview with Joe and previews next weeks interview where Joe discusses his win in The Closer event. |
