Andrew Hulme is a British professional poker player who specializes in multi-table tournaments. In online poker circles and among his poker-playing friends, he is known as "stato_1."
Hulme studied economics at Warwick University. Hulme has been a contestant on the televised quiz show Countdown, where he became only the fourth person in 61 series to score over 900 points. Indeed, his 930 total remained a Countdown record for almost two more series.
Hulme's online poker career began in 2007. Over the months and years, Hulme earned a reputation as a fearless grinder as he climbed up stakes. His largest online haul came in February 2022, a $194,496 score for a second-place finish in the PokerStars Winter Series Sunday Two Million. To date, Hulme has almost $4.9 million in online cashes.
Hulme has over 210 recorded live results dating back to July 2009. His first five-figure prize came in March 2012, when he finished second in the ��777 Mega Poker Series Nottingham Main Event for ��21,070 ($33,363). "Stato_1" continued going deep in dozens of tournaments over the coming years. In December 2016, he finished 12th in the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague Main Event for �44,430 ($47,024), a new career-best.
His victory in the ��1,100 GUKPT London Main Event earned Hulme ��112,400, his first six-figure haul. He came close to becoming a double GUKPT champion in October 2019, finishing second in the Luton Main Event for ��55,360 ($68,114).
In December 2022, Hulme cashed in four events at the EPT Prague festival, including a fourth-place finish in the �2,200 Eureka High Roller for a new career-high of �159,020 ($167,864).
At the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP), Hulme finished 18th in the $10,000 Main Event for $345,000.
All of Hulme's hard work and persistence paid off in September 2024, when he finished in second place in the �5,300 EPT Barcelona Main Event. He walked away with �1,165,614 ($1,287,800) following a heads-up chop with eventual champion Stephen Song.
