Nipun Java is an Indian professional poker player living in Los Angeles, California, but who was born in Calcutta, India. Java was a software engineer before successfully swapping computer chips for casino chips. Java has three World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets and two WSOP Circuit rings on his resume.
Java has live poker tournament results dating back to 2009. They are primarily from low-stakes events in Los Angeles. In February 2014, Java finished second in a $1,600 buy-in event at the Commerce Casino for $114,955. Less than two months later, he won a $1,675 WSOP Circuit event in L.A. for $226,785 and his first WSOPC gold ring.
Java came agonizingly close to becoming a WSOP bracelet winner in 2015, when he finished second in the $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Six Handed event, which netted him $270,509. He finally struck poker gold, winning a bracelet and $75,318 in the $1,000 Tag Team event at the 2017 WSOP. During the same series, Java won another bracelet in the online $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Championship, plus another $237,688 in prize money.
January 2022 saw Java become a two-time WSOP Circuit champion, winning a $55 buy-in event online for $54,993. More recently, in July 2023, Java captured his third bracelet in a $777 buy-in online event during the 2023 WSOP.
To date, Java has 83 WSOP cashes and 73 WSOP Circuit cashes. His earnings stand at over $2.9 million.
