TJ Murphy is an American poker player hailing from Iowa who won his first bracelet at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP).
Murphy spoke to PokerNews shortly after winning Event #17: $800 No-Limit Hold'em DeepStack. He revealed he'd been playing poker for 20 years and had always dreamed of winning a WSOP bracelet. However, he had only played four WSOP events before this one. Murphy not only captured his first bracelet but did so in style, bulldozing his way through a 4,732-strong field on his way to banking $368,977.
He also said he planned to return to Las Vegas to play in the 2024 WSOP Main Event.
Prior to his bracelet win, Murphy had several cashes on the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT), including a runner-up finish in the $400 MSPT Regional South Dakota, which earned him $28,598.
