A Preparation Guide for Live Poker Tournaments 0001

With the 2016 World Series of Poker well underway and lots of other tournament series likewise running in Las Vegas many poker players are focused on tournaments, including a large number who are perhaps more likely to stick with cash games during the rest of the year.

Poker pro and popular Twitch streamer Evan "Gripsed" Jarvis has prepared a "Live Tournament Preparation Guide" to help players get ready to bring their A-games the next time they play a multi-table tournament.

An initial tip from Jarvis is to recommend players utilize the foundation they already possess that is, the fundamentals and strategies that have previously served them well at the tables rather than feel the need to borrow others' tactics or pick up new, unfamiliar plays or moves in order to succeed.

From there he discusses the importance of being mentally ready for the swings that necessarily come during tournaments, as well as understanding the need to conserve mental energy and try to stay balanced during long days of playing. Getting adequate rest beforehand and being sure to plan your snacks and meals during an event are also important, explains Jarvis, in order to stay focused, to remain comfortable and confident, and to put yourself in the best position to succeed.

Take a look:

Like the rest of the poker world, Jarvis has made his way to the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino and is embarking on a full schedule of play, and by the time the WSOP Main Event rolls around, he'll be trying to cash in that one for a fifth-straight year to tie Ronnie Bardah's record streak.

Speaking of doing well at the WSOP, this Saturday, June 11 at 1:00 p.m. Jarvis is offering a comprehensive webinar presentation, "My WSOP Winning Formula," in which he'll be sharing concrete on-the-table strategy advice as well as off-the-table approaches to ensure peak performance.
