The Day's Action
Action got underway at 1 p.m. eastern time today, and by the time late registration ended 210 minutes later, there were 345 entries on the board, as well as 113 rebuys. That meant 45 players would share in the $100,000 prize pool.
It didn't take long to get down to the money once the gates came down on registration. It was just two hours later they were on the bubble, and Ukrainian "KostenBerguz" essentially blinded out on the bubble when the big blind came around to them with less than 2BB behind. They ended up getting it all in with king-six against a small blind raise, but ran into queens.
About 90 minutes later, they were nine-handed at the final table. Along the way, players like Ronan "Sw33ney" Sweeney, Bernardo "bsdias" Dias, Tom "sheeeeeeeeet" Hall, and Sam "sammygrinder" Grafton lost their chips but collected a payout. 888poker ambassador Dominik "888Dominik" Nitsche made his way down to the final two tables, but ended his day in 12th place for $1,500.
They played nine-handed for about 20 minutes before the exit of Ben "xLIVEPROx" Warrington started a cascade of busts. Twenty minutes later, they were four-handed and it stalled again for a bit before Stewart "stew_23" Kilpatrick shoved a small stack on the button and got called to bust in 4th place for $8,250.
"WestCliff26" exited in 3rd for $11,000 a few minutes later to set up a wild heads battle between "yarik1903" and "Holdababy". "yarik1903" started the battle with more than a three to one chip lead, but "Holdababy" managed to hold on, dribbling down to about 3M before catching a double. They eventually ran their stack back up to about 9M against the 13M big stack, but that was as close as they got.
It all ended when "Holdababy" got it in with the best two cards, but "yarik1903" spiked trips to take it down. The runner-up finish was worth $14,500 for "Holdababy" while "yarik1903" bagged $19,350 for the win.
