Ricky Kroesen Eliminated in 6th Place (NZ$19,550)

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Ricky Kroesen - 6th Place
Ricky Kroesen - 6th Place

Folded to Jonathan Bredin in the cut-off and he open it up to 20,000. Ricky Kroesen called out of the small blind and the dealer spread out a {7-Clubs}{q-Spades}{2-Spades} flop. Kroesen checked here and Bredin bet 22,000. Back on Kroesen and he would check-raise to 47,000. Bredin inquired as to how much Kroesen had behind, then he made the call.

On the {10-Clubs} turn, Kroesen moved all in for 138,000. Just a few moments later and Bredin made the call.

"You got me," said Kroesen as he tabled {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for nothing but an over card and a gut-shut straight draw.

Bredin turned over his {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} and with a {3-Hearts} on the river, sent Kroesen home in 6th place. Kroesen finished 4th in this same event last year and will need to make it a third time lucky next year if he aims to win the ANZPT Queenstown title.

Bredin now has almost a million in chips and therefore almost half the chips in play.

Narbey and Bredin

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

An interesting post just unfolded between Jon-Pierre Narbey and Jonathan Bredin, but it didn’t even get past the flop. Narbey mixed it up with a limp but Bredin popped it up to 27,000 on the button. Action folded back to Narbey who made the call and the two saw a flop of {4-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}.

Narbey checked to Bredin who bet 35,000. Narbey came back with a small raise to 72,000 but Bredin was done with that easily as he re-raised to a total of 120,000. This sent Narbey deep into the tank before he eventually gave it up.

Come From Behind Double for Lee

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Action folded around to Chiu Lee in the small blind who opened with a min-raise to 20,000. Jonathan Bredin sat in the big blind for a few moments before giving the command to move all in. Lee insta-called and slammed {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} down on the table like it was the nuts. It wasn’t, as Bredin showed {a-Spades}{k-Clubs} for a dominant advantage.

The flop was a bare {q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{q-Spades} but Lee got a little excited when the {9-Clubs} spiked on the turn. Lee took the lead and it stayed that was through the {7-Hearts} river.

Lee’s stack of 113,000 was doubled as Bredin is still comfortable with around 600,000.

Two Big Stacks Battling

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Jon Pierre Narbey and Jonathan Bredin are the two big stacks at the final table and they recently played a hand to the turn of a {7-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{j-Spades} board. Bredin had opened the hijack preflop and Narbey called out of the big blind. Narbey led for 33,000 on the flop and Bredin called. The turn would see Narbey check and then take his time before folding to a bet of 43,000 from Bredin.

Lee Shoving

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Chiu Yeung Lee has just shoved all in preflop twice and received no action. He is still the short stack, but has managed to add some much-needed blinds and antes to his stack.

Handy Double for Raj

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Jon Pierre Narbey was in the hijack when he opened it up to 25,000. Folded around to Jonathan Bredin on the button and he would three-bet to 55,000. Raj Ramakrishnan then shipped it all in for 183,000. Narbey got out of the way, while Bredin asked for a count. Eventually Bredin made the call and tabled {a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. Ramakrishnan was out in front with his {a-Spades}{k-Spades}.

The {2-Clubs}{6-Spades}{9-Spades}{j-Clubs}{q-Spades} meant Ramakrishnan had improved his hand to a flush to scoop up the very nice double up!

Colin Carpenter Eliminated in 7th Place (NZ$16,150)

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Colin Carpenter - 7th Place
Colin Carpenter - 7th Place

In the first two hours, one player was eliminated from the ANZPT Queenstown Main Event final table. Now, in the last five minutes, two more have been eliminated.

Folded around to Jonathan Bredin in the small blind and he jammed his big stack in the middle. Carpenter went deep into the tank from the big blind, eventually deciding to make the call.

Carpenter: {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Bredin: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

Carpenter was way ahead and looking good to stay alive, but the {j-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{q-Hearts} flop had other ideas. No help came for Carpenter on the {5-Diamonds} turn or the {3-Diamonds} river and it was all over in 7th place.

Then there were six!

Daniel Neilson Eliminated in 8th Place (NZ$12,750)

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Daniel Neilson - 8th Place
Daniel Neilson - 8th Place

Folded around to Daniel Neilson on the button and he would move his stack of 49,000 in the middle. Daniel Laidlaw was in the small blind and shoved his stack of around 170,000 in the middle, forcing Jon Pierre Narbey out of the hand.

Neilson: {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Laidlaw: {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

It was a race situation for Neilson to stay alive. The {j-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop was spread on the felt and Neilson had found the cards he needed. Then a {8-Spades} hit the turn to give Laidlaw the lead and with no help for Neilson on hte {5-Diamonds} river, he was sent home in 8th place.

For that effort Neilson collected NZ$12,750.
