Eight 60-minute levels and more than 130 eliminations later and the opening Day 1 flight of the ANZPT Sydney Main Event is all over as the clock ticks past 3:00 a.m.

The starting field of 211 players was whittled down to exactly 73 and leading the way with a stack of 198,400 is Jazz Mathers. Some of others to end Day 1 with a big chip stackinclude Danny Zhong, Alex Lee, Anthony Aston, Jordan Westmorland and former ANZPT Sydney champion Michael Kanaan.

Plenty of notable players will join these chip leaders at the felt on Day 2, though with varying stack sizes. This includes players like Brett Chalhoub, Mile Krsatonski, Emanuel Seal, Dylan Honeyman and Australian Poker Hall of Fame members Billy Argyros and Mel Judah. Be sure to check out the full end-of-day chip counts in the live reporting blog below.

Full Tilt ANZPT Ambassador Tom Grigg, Akira Ohyama, Brad Bower, WSOP bracelet winner Andrew Hinrichsen, former APPT Sydney champion Aaron Benton and dual APPT / ANZPT champion Grant Levy just a few of those to be eliminated throughout the day.

We will be back in the beautiful poker room here at The Star from 12:30 p.m. tomorrow, once again bringing all the ANZPT Sydney live updates. It’s the second and final Day 1 flight and everyone is expecting a field large enough to surpass last year’s 460-strong field and maybe even large enough to move past 500 total players and become the largest ANZPT in history.
