Do Doubles Through Steicke

Quinn Do and David Steicke
Quinn Do and David Steicke
Wei Will Ma raised to 10,500 for the second hand in a row and Charles Chua made the call. Quinn Do called out of the small blind while David Steicke asked for a count of Chua's stack, deliberated over his decision for a long time, and then popped it up to 35,500 to go.

Ma and Chua folded before Do, out of nowhere, moved all in! Steicke went back into the tank for a minute or two before making the call.

Do: {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Steicke: {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

The board fell {4-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{Q-Spades} and Do more than doubled through Steicke to move up to around 150,000!

Nobody Wants to Play

The players started out the day jovial and talkative. Now that we're nearing the end of the first two hours of play, the mood has become much more serious. Even Johnny Chan is sitting back in his seat in-between hands, arms folded across his chest.

The poker being played seems to reflect the mood on display: tight and cautious. Flops are becoming an endangered species at this final table.

The Machine Motors On

Johnny Chan limped into the pot from under the gun, and the table folded around to the blinds. David Steicke completed from the small blind and Wei Will Ma checked his option in the big blind.

The flop came {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and the action checked through. The turn brought the {7-Diamonds} and Steicke led out for 6,000. Ma then announced a raise to 18,000. Chan folded and Steicke snap-called.

The river fell the {Q-Diamonds} and Steicke led out again, this time for 14,500. Ma stared and the board and ruffled his chips before folding his hand. Steicke collects another pot to move up to close to half a million chips!

Flop-less Poker

The last few hands have taken the same pattern. One person opens with a raise, someone else reraises, and everyone else folds, including the original raiser. That was the case When Nam Le opened for 10,500, and David Steicke reraised to 30,500. Everyone folded back to Le, who considered what to do for 30 seconds before mucking.

Ace No Good?

Johnny Chan raised to 10,000 before Charles Chua reraised to 30,000 in position. The table folded around to Chan who flashed the {A-Clubs} before folding. Chua showed the {A-Spades}.

Hospital Ward Poker

Nam Le started the limp brigade by calling the big blind. Quinn Do followed suit, as did David Steicke and Johnny Chan. By the time Charles Chua checked his option in the big blind, we were five-handed to a flop of {2-Spades} {10-Spades} {Q-Clubs}. Le and Do quickly checked, moving action around to David Steicke, who took about 30 seconds to bet 35,000. That bet made him a winner after everyone else folded. "Never Miss" showed the table the {Q-Diamonds}.

Ivan Tan Eliminated in 8th Place ($38,461)

Charles Chua opened the pot for 12,000 right in front of Ivan Tan, who moved all in for about 50,000. When action folded back to Chua he said, "I don't think I can fold," and called, opening his hand.

Chua: {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts}
Tan: {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs}

The flop gave Tan some optionality. It came down {6-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}, giving him club outs in addition to his ten, as well as potential running cards for a straight. He missed the turn when it was the {6-Hearts}, but that put the possibility of a split pot on board with a nine or a deuce. He missed all of his outs when the river fell {5-Spades}. Tan is out, and Chua now moves to about 150,000 in chips.

Do Says Hello

Quinn Do, who has been relatively quiet so far this afternoon, just took a small pot off of Nam Le. Do made it 12,000 to go before the flop and Le called out of the blinds. When the dealer spread a flop of {3-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {4-Spades}, Le checked and folded to a bet of 15,000 from Do.
